One of my favorite characters from the second season of Twin Peaks is Agent Cooper’s nemesis Windom Earle. Played by the late Kenneth Welsh, this publicity photo was captured around the end of March 1991 as the final episode were being filmed in Southern California.
AGENT COOPER’S NEMESIS WINDOM EARLE
This black and white photo was taken by ABC Television photography Jerry Fitzgerald. It has a date of 3/26/91 and a code number of 28024A-4-25. The caption reads: “Agent Cooper’s nemesis, Windom Earle (Kenneth Welsh), continues to wreak havoc on the townspeople of Twin Peaks on “TWIN PEAKS,” which airs THURSDAY (9:00-10:00 p.m., ET), on the ABC Television Network.”
The image was most likely captured at Franklin Canyon Park in California when the crew was shooting scenes of Windom Earle taking a captured Annie Blackburn to Glastonbury Grove for Twin Peaks episode 2.022.
I found very little details about the photographer other than he may have worked at ABC Television from 1991 to 2005 (these are the dates where I found credited images with his name on Newspapers.com).
WINDOM EARLE PUBLICITY PHOTO IN PRINT

One of the earliest newspapers where I found this image appeared at the “Quad City Times” on Apr. 7, 1991, which contained the same caption as the publicity photo.

A few days later, “The Anchorage Times” printed a slightly cropped image with the same caption on Apr. 11.

I love this caption – “FBI agent gone bad” – for Windom Earle’s photo published in “The Huntsville Times” on Apr. 12.

This caption from “The Morning Call” on Apr. 14 is just as great – EVIL MAN!

“The Olympian” printed the photo on Apr. 14, 1991.

This publicity photo was typically included in the television programming sections of newspapers such as the “Transcript Telegram” on Apr. 20, 1991.

Agent Earle would continue to be found in papers throughout April as late as Apr. 22 in “The Logan Leader.”

A similar photo was found on April 24, 1991 in the Aegis. This would have appeared after episode 2.020 aired on April 18. The two final episodes from the second season wouldn’t be shown on ABC Television until June 10 when they aired back-to-back.
