In 1990, a series of photo slides featuring characters from Mark Frost and David Lynch’s Twin Peaks were released as publicity for the show. One slide shows James Marshall with the other half of Laura Palmer’s necklace. It’s a cropped, portrait-like image compared to the original photo captured by long-time ABC Television photographer Craig Sjodin.
JAMES MARSHALL “TWIN PEAKS” PHOTO SLIDE
James Marshall is seen sitting at a table wearing a black t-shirt. The other half of Laura Palmer’s half-heart necklace is laying on the table in front of him.
This photo slide of James Marshall was released in 1990 by Capital Cities / ABC as part of publicity for Twin Peaks. It was taken by Craig Sjodin who worked for ABC and Disney for 39 as a still photographer. He passed on September 15, 2023 as a result of injuries sustained from a bicycling accident. This image is similar to one of Richard Beymer as Benjamin Horne. I’m assuming these images were produced to help media learn about the myriad of characters from the wonderful and strange show.

The image is a cropped shot from a series of photos of Marshall with Laura’s necklace. The slide’s colors are more like the reddish color grading found in the series, whereas the original publicity photo shows more true colors.

He is most likely sitting at the round table in The Great Northern Hotel dining room set as seen in the background of this image from Twin Peaks episode 1.005.
I love these photo slides as the remind me of my early fascinating trying to keep track of the many players in the mystery.
