As a child, I loved going to the local Drive-In Movie Theater in Columbus, Ohio. I saw so many films from the comfortable of my parent’s vehicle while hearing the film’s audio broadcast from a bulky metal speaker attached to the car’s window. While many Drive-Ins have long since closed, the Mahoning Drive-In Theater, nestled in the scenic Pocono Mountains of Lehighton, Pennsylvania, has continue presenting cinema under the stars since 1949. Coming up on Sept. 5-6, 2025, they are stepping back into the world of my favorite movie director with “The Wild World of David Lynch.” Enjoy two nights of 35mm features on their Cinemascope screen with special guest Ray Wise (Leland Palmer in Twin Peaks) and a performance on Friday by David Lynch tribute band F*ck You, Tammy!
WHAT IS THE MAHONING DRIVE-IN THEATER?

Constructed in 1948, The Mahoning Drive-In Theater, located at 635 Seneca Road in Lehighton, Pennsylvania, began screening films in summer 1949 with their first film, the Warner Brothers musical April Showers. Since then, the theater has continued showing classic and cult movies on 35mm via twin Simplex E-7 projectors that throw celluloid images upon the biggest outdoor Cinemacope screen in the state.
With capacity for 1,000 vehicles, this classic destination has a snack bar filled with film memorabilia and vintage VHS, DVDs, and records for sale. They also have an open door policy for their projection booth, offering guests a peek at a cinema from another era.
‘THE WILD WORLD OF DAVID LYNCH’ AT THE MAHONING DRIVE-IN THEATER | SEPT. 5-6, 2025
On September 5-6, 2025, The Mahoning Drive-In Theater is holding another David Lynch / Twin Peaks-themed event with “The Wild World of David Lynch” with special guest Ray Wise.
Paying tribute to the “unique genius” of David Lynch who passed earlier this year in January, this two-day event will celebrate Lynch’s legacy with all things Lynchian with a fan gathering that starts under the sun each day, and ends beneath the stars each night. This event is lovingly being co-presented by long-time fan and genuinely wonderful human being, Faye Dorsey.
Gates will open at 5:00 p.m. each night with showtime beginning at sundown.
FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 5, 2025 | F*CK YOU, TAMMY! AND TWO FILMS
On Friday night, Sept. 5, the dreamy F*ck You, Tammy! will play an hour-long set of songs from the director’s filmography under the massive Mahoning screen, setting the mood for the weekend.

F*ck You, Tammy!, also known as “The Band From Another Place,” was formed in 2017 by lead singer Devery Doleman, bassist/ vocalist Julie Rozansky and drummer Nate Smith. They had assembled a supergroup to play a Halloween show with Julee Cruise and Angelo Badalamenti songs from Twin Peaks.
Inspired by the music in the air, they continue playing as a band today and have been described as “lustrous, lurid, cinematically sexy” and “one of NYC’s best live groups […] I was not prepared for the level of musicianship, the incredible attention to detail and the sheer intensity of their performance.“
The band has played The Iridium NYC; headlined The Bell House, the Mercury Lounge, Elsewhere, and 2019’s infamous BLACK LODGE/ WHITE NOISE Halloween party at 3 Dollar Bill; collaborated with members of The Pink Room Burlesque, headlined the Wild World of David Lynch at the Mahoning Drive-In Theater in 2021 and 2023; and headlined 2019’s Eraserhood Forever at PhilaMOCA (with a guest appearance by James Marshall.)
They recently released their debut EP, ‘Sycamore Trees’, which is available via Bandcamp.
The night will also seen a screening of two films.
TWIN PEAKS: FIRE WALK WITH ME (1992) – The feature film prequel to the TV series (1990-1991), delving into the inky darkness of the life of Laura Palmer and the citizens of the sleepy Washington logging town, where disturbing secrets lurk under the serene surface. Featuring the TV cast, along with Chris Isaak, Harry Dean Stanton, Kiefer Sutherland, and David Bowie.
I KNOW CATHERINE, THE LOG LADY (2025) – Richard Green’s new documentary about the life and art of Catherine Coulson, best know as The Log Lady from Twin Peaks. Through archival and new interviews with Coulson, her fellow cast members, friends, and collaborators, a moving tribute to the woman behind the log and her character’s cultural impact is revealed. This film will be presented digitally.
SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 6, 2025 | MULHOLLAND DR. AND BLUE VELVET
Saturday night features a delightfully dark and dreamy double feature.
MULHOLLAND DR. (2001) – Naomi Watts is an aspiring actress in Hollywood who meets an amnesiac woman (Laura Harring), and together they seek to find her identity, and discover a dark, dreamlike journey into the black heart of Tinseltown . With Justin Theroux, Robert Forster, Michael J. Anderson, Rebekah Del Rio, Chad Everett and Ann Miller.
BLUE VELVET (1986) – David Lynch’s breakthrough mainstream hit features Kyle MacLachlan and Laura Dern as small-town amateur sleuths investigating the dark underbelly of small town America, a happened-upon severed ear leading them down a perilous path involving gangsters, night club singers, kidnapping, and the iconinc nitrous-huffing criminal Frank Booth (Dennis Hopper). With Isabella Rossellini, Dean Stockwell, Jack Nance, and Hope Lange.
