The Real Twin Peaks 2023 – Panel Discussions

One of the highlights from The Real Twin Peaks 2023 event in Snoqualmie Valley, Washington was a day filled with interesting, informative and entertaining panel discussions about topics related to Twin Peaks. Here is a brief recap of the panels complete with video.

THE SCHEDULE

Schedule of Events on Saturday, February 25

There were seven panel discussions held as part of this event organized by the Snoqualmie Valley Chamber of Commerce and North Bend Downtown Foundation. Long-time Twin Peaks fan Mary Hütter orchestrated the schedule of events which turned out to be a real hit with attendees.

I intend to have longer articles about each of the panels in the coming weeks.

FIRE WALK WITH ME AT 30

The first three panels were held at The Black Dog Arts Cafe, located at 8062 Railroad Ave. SE in downtown Snoqualmie.

From 11:00 a.m. to Noon, Emily Marinelli, host of the Twin Peaks Tattoo Podcast, spoke with author Scott Ryan about his book, “Fire Walk With Me: Your Laura Disappeared.”

THE TWIN PEAKS TATTOO PODCAST

Scott Ryan then took over the interview spot when he spoke with Emily about her podcast. She was joined by three fierce women who sport Twin Peaks-themed tattoos and were recently featured on her podcast – Alison Ivy, Rachel Bennett and Holly Vogel.

ANALYZING TWIN PEAKS: THE RETURN

John Thorne and Josh Minton joined Scott between the 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. hour to discuss the third season of Twin Peaks, also known as The Return. John was co-author with Craig Miller of the incomparable “Wrapped in Plastic” magazine. He recently wrote a book about the newest season on Showtime called “Ominous Whoosh: A Wandering Mind Returns to Twin Peaks.” Josh is the author of “A Skeleton Key to Twin Peaks.” Together they produced the podcast titled “In Our House Now.

ART OF COLLECTING, IDENTIFYING AND RECREATING PROPS

The panel discussions continued in the Snoqualmie Valley Eagles building, located at 8200 Railroad Avenue in Snoqualmie.

Vinnie Guidera, a  prop collector and fellow author for Twin Peaks Blog, joined by Jason Mattson and me for a conversation around Collecting, Identifying and Recreating props from Twin PeaksJason brought several examples of props he created from the series.

From 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., the conversation about Twin Peaks props continued with Vinnie and Jeff Moore, who served as the Prop Master for the second season.

ACTING FOR DAVID LYNCH

Scott Ryan returned to the stage at 4:30 p.m. for a conversation with George Griffith (Ray Monroe) and John Paulsen (“Truck You” Trucker) from Twin PeaksThe Return. Andrea Hayes (Heidi) was unable to attend due to a scheduling conflict.

BEHIND THE SCENES OF TWIN PEAKS: THE RETURN

The final panel of the day was a conversation between Scott Ryan and Dave Drummond, who served as the Location Manager in Washington State for season three.

Kate Becker, the Creative Economy and Recovery Director in the Office of King County Executive Dow Constantine, was unable to join the conversation.
