During my seemingly neverending quest to document all the Twin Peaks film locations, I love highlighting establishing shots like the Western Montana scenes from Part 13 in Season 3 on Showtime. While these scenes serves as great transitional shots for the series, they also have an interesting story as to how I found them.
In Twin Peaks: The Return, we’re introduced to a mysterious glass box that Sam Colby is paid to watch. This top secret experiment, funded by a unknown billionaire, was in a nondescript building somewhere in New York City. But like most things in Twin Peaks, things are always what they seem. In reality, the film…
I’ve been a fan of Twin Peaks since October 1993. Despite my many deep dives into the little details that make this show so great, I’m still surprised to find things I’ve never seen before. A great example is a Twin Peaks-inspired advertisement from Acme Supermarkets that briefly ran in the Philadelphia Daily News around on…
Being a Twin Peaks fan in the 1990s, there were not many easy options for finding officially (or unofficially licensed products). The ease of Internet shopping with two-day delivery had not been invented. Instead, you had two options – contact Bruce Phillips, an avid collector who published a mail order catalog of Twin Peaks goodies,…
I recently shared details about the film location for Jacques Renault’s cabin from Twin Peaks Episode 1005. During my research, I pulled a handful of images without people from the cabins seen in Season 1 and in Twin Peaks – Fire Walk With Me. We’re going to take a walk in the woods.” – Special Agent Dale Cooper, Episode 1005 While Thanksgiving meal preparation continues today, I’m taking a break to virtually visit the film location for Jacques Renault’s cabin from Twin Peaks in Episode 1005. There are actually two cabins used in the Twin Peaks universe –…
One of the highlights during my trip to Washington state in September 2019 was visiting the film location for Carl Rodd’s bench. This brief-but-moving scene in Twin Peaks Part 6 on Showtime shows Mr. Rodd watching a mother and son play tag while he enjoys a cigarette and a cup of coffee from the Double…
When writing for this Blog, there are times that I feel like Special Agent Sam Stanley who used his machine to crack the Whitman case. What a rush of endorphins he must have felt when he finally found those splinters. I’ve felt that same thrill several times while researching stories, from locating the stock footage…
In the first half of Twin Peaks Season 3 on Showtime, we are introduced to Rancho Rosa Estates, a nearly abandoned community located on the outskirts of Las Vegas. A welcome sign for the community was used as an establishing shot in several episodes. This film location for the sign spot, like many of the…
