Twin Peaks Publicity – Spelling Films International – Harry Dean Stanton as Carl Rodd

Harry Dean Stanton as Carl Rodd

The great Harry Dean Stanton would have celebrated his 100th birthday on July 14, 2026. Since I first saw him in Ridley Scott’s Alien, I’ve loved him in every film he’s ever done. I’m particularly enamored with his performance as Fat Trout Trailer Park manager Carl Rodd in David Lynch’s Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me. I recently acquired a portfolio from Spelling Films International containing several 11-inch by 14-inch publicity photo prints. One image features a portrait of Harry Dean looking like someone disturbed him BEFORE 9:00 a.m.

The 11-inch by 14-inch portrait of Harry Dean Stanton as Carl Rodd was taken by the late on-set photographer Lorey Sebastian. This image was captured during the very first days of filming Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me at the former Riverside Mobile Home Park in Snoqualmie, Washington.

Filming began on September 4, 1991 with scenes of the Fat Trout Trailer Park (I discuss some of what was shot in this article).

Based on Harry Dean’s wardrobe, the image was most likely captured when Agents Desmond and Stanley were at the Fat Trout Trailer Park Carl Rodd’s home. Lorey most likely shot Harry Dean’s photo using a long focal length to get blurred background (85mm or higher).

Cover of a black portfolio

The oversize image was included in this black portfolio. The white label on the front cover reads, “Spelling Films International / Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me”

The photos were presented in clear sleeves which can easily be removed. It’s unclear how this portfolio was used. I purchased it from the same seller who had more than 50 images and slides from Spelling Films International. Yet they had no additional information about the portfolio. Nevertheless, I’m happy to have these large prints join the ever growing publicity photo archive.

We miss you, Harry Dean! Wishing you a happy 100th.
