In celebration of the release of her new album Between Heaven and Earth on August 28, 2026, Alicia Witt, is visiting select cities in the United States and United Kingdom this fall. Witt played Gersten Hayward in Twin Peaks as well as Alia in David Lynch’s 1984 epic, Dune.
According to her website, this haunting and deeply personal album was recorded live in New York City with producer Joe Henry and a band assembled specifically for the project. Here, the album exists in a space suspended between transcendence and intimacy, channeling what Witt describes as “eternal unconditional love”. Further, she describes is as “the place suspended between heaven and earth.”
The album was profoundly shaped by the influence and memory of David Lynch. Throughout Between Heaven and Earth, Witt explores what she learned from Lynch “regarding love. The eternal nature of it, the idea that only love is real.” Moreover, she describes his presence as palpable throughout the making of the record. “David was with us every day in the studio. All six of us in the band felt his presence.”

Cinema’s greatest dreamweaver, David Lynch transfixed audiences for fifty years, creating some of the most haunting, beautiful, and affecting nightmare visions ever put to film. His early work as a painter helps account for Lynch’s visual mastery, but his desire to spur his paintings into motion led him down the path of movies. One of the few filmmakers with an utterly distinct style—”Lynchian” has become a singular adjective—he could float between a number of compelling styles, as a striking surrealist, storyteller, humanist, and experimenter. The Heights is proud to present some of David Lynch’s most profound and unforgettable works.

SEPTEMBER 12, 2026 | CAMBRIDGE, MASSACHUSETTS
The Harvard Film Archive located at the Carpenter Center for the Visual Arts at Harvard University is holding Marathon ’77, their annual all-night marathon featuring several key films from 1977.
Bathed in the crepuscular glow of the studio system’s slow decline, these films channel the traumas and tumults of the decade, often in the figure of a tortured anti-hero, as alternately embodied by William Devane’s Vietnam veteran bent on vengeance in Rolling Thunder and Jack Nance’s angst-ridden bachelor in one of the year’s most influential films, Eraserhead. Masculine anxiety shaped many now classic 1977 films including William Friedkin’s ultimate road movie, Sorcerer, an epic adventure of an international group of escaped criminals forced to drive explosive-laden trucks through the heart of darkness. Testosterone levels are raised to even further, stranger heights in Pumping Iron, a revelatory and rollicking backstage documentary chronicling Arnold Schwarzenegger’s fervent quest to win a fourth Mr. Olympia title. To open the program, Jonathan Demme’s lesser-known Citizen’s Band embraces an Altmanesque brand of messy comedy to offer a gently rambling ode to small-time America and the strange, vernacular joys of ham radio. An important inclusion is Robert Young’s ¡Alambrista!, a gripping and still all too-timely documentary-style chronicle of an undocumented Mexican worker trying to escape the cruelly arbitrary net of US immigration. While 1977 is known to many as the year of Star Wars and the launch of the interminable franchise that followed, it also featured Steven Spielberg’s more soulful, melancholy vision of life in outer space, now seen from Earth, Close Encounters of the Third Kind.
These films will be presented in beautiful 35mm prints, all but one from the HFA collection, Marathon ’77 will also include rare 16mm short films and many trailers drawn from the vaults of the HFA and the Brattle Theatre. – Haden Guest.
The marathon begins at 3:00 p.m. at the theatre located at 24 Quincy Street in Cambridge, MA. Ticket information is available HERE.

SEPTEMBER 28 – OCTOBER 21, 2026 | VARIOUS CITIES IN UNITED STATES AND UNITED KINGDOM
In this highly anticipated memoir, the beloved actor and star of Twin Peaks, Blue Velvet, Sex and the City, Fallout, and more shares his utterly original account of his offbeat journey in Hollywood, his battles with fear and fame, and the projects that shaped him—and created a cult icon.
Fictional Selves is a book of doppelgangers, with MacLachlan mirrored by his own prodding ego (“Other Kyle”), the iconic characters he inhabited, and the ones that eluded his grasp but gave him a profound and surprising lens onto himself as a person and a performer. Taking us to the heights of critical success for Blue Velvet to the depths of the backyard pool in his infamous (and delightful) Showgirls love scene, MacLachlan brings us into the mind of one of the most distinctive actors of his generation, offering profound insights on collaborators like David Lynch, Laura Dern, Dennis Hopper, Anthony Hopkins, and more. Featuring lessons learned the hard way about ambition, love, and fatherhood, this memoir is an honest look into the remarkable—and often unpredictable—life of an enduring and endearing Hollywood icon.
