From August 15-17, 2025, the North Bend Theatre in North Bend, Washington held a weekend of activities to celebrate the 33rd Anniversary of U.S. premiere of David Lynch’s 1992 masterpiece, Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me. The film made its North American debut at the small town theatre on August 16, 1992. The first of these events was held on August 15, 2025 as they invited fans to go “Behind the Badge” with Twin Peaks actors Harry Goaz (Deputy Andy Brennan), Dana Ashbrook (Bobby Briggs) and Michael Horse (Deputy Tommy “Hawk” Hill). Here is a recap from that entertaining first day.
BEHIND THE BADGE AT NORTH BEND THEATRE ON AUG. 15, 2025

On Friday, August 15, the North Bend Theatre held the first of two weekend screenings of Lynch’s 1992 film, Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me. The screening began at 6:00 p.m. with doors opening at 5:00 p.m. After the film, Mike McGraner facilitated a conversation with Twin Peaks Sheriff Department stars, Michael Horse (Tommy “Hawk” Hill), Harry Goaz (Deputy Andy Brennan) and Dana Ashbrook (Bobby Briggs).
Here is a 46-minute video replay of the conversation posted on the Twin Peaks Blog YouTube channel. The video picks up with Harry Goaz responding to a question from Mike McGraner. I got caught up taking photos in the theatre that I forgot to push record on the iPhone. It’s best to watch the video with captions on as the sound is muffled in certain parts.
HIGHLIGHTS FROM BEHIND THE BADGE ON AUGUST 15, 2025
I arrived at the North Bend Theatre shortly before 5:00 p.m. It was great seeing their ever growing Walk of Fame which contains handprints from Twin Peaks stars like Ray Wise, Sheryl Lee and Kyle MacLachlan. The “Behind the Badge” stars would add their handprints and signatures in cement on Saturday, August 16.
Posters for Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me and Lynch/Oz were displayed in their movie poster windows. The latter film would be screened on Sunday, August 17 as part of a double feature with David Lynch’s Wild at Heart.
In the window of the North Bend Theatre’s ticket booth, I spotted another poster designed by Twin Peaks fan @Mr. Video. This isn’t the first poster he’s created for a Twin Peaks-themed event at the theatre. In 2024, he designed an awesome poster when Sheryl Lee (Laura Palmer / Maddy Ferguson) attended events in August 2024.

The black and white image features publicity photos of Deputy Hawk and Deputy Briggs from Twin Peaks: The Return. The image of Deputy Andy comes from the Twin Peaks pilot.
This posters were available for sale in the lobby for $15.00.
The screening of Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me began around 6:00 p.m. to a nearly full house. There is no greater joy than watching Lynch’s masterpiece at the theatre where it debuted in 1992 as part of the first Twin Peaks Fan Festival.

Mike McGraner has been facilitating these conversations with Twin Peaks stars since he first spoke with Ray Wise and Sheryl Lee at Studio 35 in Columbus, Ohio in July 2019. After a brief introduction, Mike opened the floor to questions from the audience. A guest asked if at the time of filming if any of the actors thought they might have been Laura Palmer’s killer.
Michael Horse immediately responded, “I know I didn’t do it. I was absolutely sure the Hawk didn’t do it.”
Dana tagged on, “I mean I was sort of the first obvious choice, I mean if you guys watch ‘Dateline’ or anything, so I knew it wasn’t me.
Harry, on the other hand, quipped, “I wanted it to be me because I wanted more screen time.” The audience roared with laughter.
Michael reminisced about being at David Lynch’s house discussing art.
“My favorite moments where we talked about art,” Michael shared. “I saw him right before he passed. I’m living in Minnesota now and he didn’t want to talk about film. He wanted to what kind of trees were [in Minnesota]. The last discussion was about how a single obscure image can evoke such emotion in a person. And even emotional DNA that you didn’t even know you had.”
Michael admired David for being an abstract painter.
“When people ask what was it like working with David, I say just to be a small dot of color on that man’s artistic palette was such an honor,” said Horse.

Michael shared a photo of that moment at David Lynch’s house on February 10, 2024. You can see framed artwork Michael presented Lynch. He also offers his artwork and jewelry on GatheringTribes.com.
Another fan asked about the long relationship between the actors and if they had learned anything about each other’s craft.
Dana deferred to Michael Horse who humorously replied, “I don’t have much of a craft. In the last movie I did, the guy said, ‘Give me this.’ I go, ‘You seen me work for 40 some years. I got this look and I got that one.” Laughter ensued.
Horse was fascinated, however, watching Piper Laurie on set. Harry Goaz was impressed with Ray Wise’s singing and dancing.
“When I saw Ray Wise do his sing and dance, I was pretty shocked,” explained Goaz. “He just walked right into it and did it like it was no big deal. And then he did another. It was really eye opening to me.”
“That man has no fear,” retorted McGraner who has been traveling with Ray Wise throughout the United States holding conversations following movie screenings, such as the Real Twin Peaks 2025 event.
Another guest asked about the lot of Bobby’s socks from Twin Peaks: The Return which sold for $1,625 by Julien’s Auctions in June 2025.
“Are you kidding me?,” Dana replied. “I tracked it! I think we got up to $1,600.”
Michael jokingly chimed in, “I bought them.”
“It’s ridiculous. I couldn’t even remember those socks,” Dana continued.

Dana recalled unexpected direction received from David Lynch during his first filmed scene for Twin Peaks: The Return. In Part 13, Bobby Briggs enters the Double R Diner and saunters to the counter before spotting Ed Hurley and Norma Jennings.
“When we were doing ‘The Return,’ my first scene was in the diner with Ed and Norma,” remembers Dana. “She’s like talking to the guy about selling the Double R and that was my first scene in the whole ‘Return.’ So I came in and I entered the scene and I was walking, you know, kind of like Bobby shuffling along, you know, his walk. And David stopped everything and he came over to me and, I swear to God, he said, ‘I can’t believe I’m saying this but not so weird.’ [Laughter]. I totally got it.”
When asked about nuggets of wisdom that David Lynch shared with the actors, Harry discussed advice he received.
“Well, he would mention Transcendental Mediation to me,” remembered Harry. “I would just listen. After I left the show, I started coming to this point of paying attention to my spirituality and it’s because of him. I didn’t know where it was going but I thought about it.”
Later, he mentioned David’s suggestion related to Harry’s photography.
“Well, it was very strange,” Harry continued. “I’ve been shooting photography since the 70s, and I’m like, God, I’m carrying a lot of this around and a lot of it doesn’t resonate with me. And David told me, ‘Don’t throw anything away.’ So I didn’t.”
Throughout the entire conversation, several behind-the-scenes photos rotated across the North Bend Theatre’s silver screen. This photo shows an off-camera moment during the Milford wedding scene during the second season. It was a treat watching these images from more than three decades ago appear while the actor reminisced about their time working on the show and with David.
“That’s one thing about [David Lynch],” shared Dana. “He was always working, always doing something every day. It wasn’t like he took a day off. So you know, there are a lot of lazy people out there but it was impressive the volume of work that he would get done on a daily basis.”
Michael shared his thoughts about David.
“He didn’t say anything to me but the thing that most impressed me is David did not compromise,” said Horse. “I mean they pushed and pushed and pushed on him. He would go, ‘Well, I’m not doing it.’ He would not compromise on his art.”
Another audience member asked what had either surprised the actors or been their favorite thing about the fan response to Twin Peaks.
“How smart and kind and polite you are,” responded Michael. “You know my wife goes, ‘Your fans are just wonderful.’ You know, but I said, it’s David’s world. It’s about art. I’m a fan just like the rest of you.”
Dana also answered the question.
“Usually the people who are ‘Twin Peaks’ fans are usually artistic people and you know people that have seen some shit maybe. So everybody relates and we all love David no matter ‘Twin Peaks’ or not. So I think that’s it, man – it’s all just about the love that he generated out into the world that we’re all just kind of tapping into and sucking the nipple of [pause … followed by laughter].”
Harry then offered his thoughts about the wonderful and strange show.
“To this day, being in the business and going through all the auditions and all of that, you meet some of the most frightening people in your life,” said Goaz. “I mean, they are truly frightening and some of them are proud of it. And what I took away from David, it was a few years later I realized that he was truly, truly a kind person. He’s kind. I don’t think I can think that of anyone else.”
After the conversation concluded, the trio and Mike posed on stage while I took a wide angle shot of the entire audience in attendance. I love capturing these moments as it shows some of the best damn fans in the world. I smile looking at this image as I know I’m in good company with so many great people.
Folks then lined up down the aisle to meet Michael, Dana and Harry who were positioned on the stage. They offered photos and autographs for sale and would pose for selfies.
I grabbed this shot with the three actors on stage with a photo of the trio in a scene together from the Twin Peaks High School library scene in the Twin Peaks pilot. What a surreal moment to have them both on stage and screen in the Real Twin Peaks.
