My look at Twin Peaks publicity photos from 1990 continues with a black and white portrait of Dana Ashbrook as Bobby Briggs. This 8-inch by 10-inch photo was part of a series of character photos released by Capital Cities / ABC Television to introduce viewers to the many characters from David Lynch and Mark Frost’s wonderful and strange show.
DANA ASHBROOK AS BOBBY BRIGGS
This black and white photograph features Dana Ashbrook dressed as Bobby Briggs. The headshot appears to be taken on The Great Northern Hotel set constructed in Van Nuys, California. I particularly love seeing Dana’s hoop earring in this photo.

The photo is a cropped image that’s part of a series of images captured on the set. The image above is an uncropped photo where you can see the rest of Bobby Briggs’ chain necklace.
Dana was 21 years old when he filmed the Twin Peaks pilot in February and March 1989 in Washington state. He was 22 when these photos were taken during production of the show’s first season (his birthday is May 24).
“I’ve never played anybody as bad,” he told Valerie Helmbreck in USA Today article on April 16, 1990. “He’s a bad seed and I love it.”
When asked where does Ashbrook end and Bobby begin?
“There’s some of me in Bobby, but not very much,” says Ashbrook, adding, “I hope.”
