For the past several years, I’ve featured a number of vintage Snoqualmie Falls postcards on this site. Today, I’m happy to highlight a modern talented photographer (and fellow Canon camera enthusiast) Robert LaSalle Chism. In early 2024, merchandise with photography of the magnificent 268-foot waterfall was added to The Gift Shop at Salish Lodge and the Snoqualmie Falls Welcome Center.

The front of this post features a stunning photo of Snoqualmie Falls by Robert LaSalle Chism. The image was most likely captured at sunset based on how the sun is illuminating the waterfall.

Snoqualmie Falls is an incredibly popular spot to visit in Washington state, attracting more than 2 million visitors annually.  In 2023, the Snoqualmie Tribe opened a completely remodeled Snoqualmie Falls Gift Shop and Visitor Center containing exhibits, a gift shop and a small cafe. I spotted Chism’s works during a visit on February 20, 2025.

Inside the center you’ll find an exhibit titled “Our Story Is the Story of the Falls” which documents the history of Snoqualmie Falls from Time Immemorial to modern day. It is believed that Moon the Transformer created the falls and the first Snoqualmie people at this sacred spot.  You can learn more about the importance of the land to the tribe and what you can do to protect, respect and restore it on the Snoqualmie Tribe Ancestral Land Movement website.

There is also a small cafe with coffee and bakery goods along with a merchandise shop where you’ll find Chism’s works among other local and Native American artists.

I invite you to check out Robert’s other stunning images from the Pacific Northwest by visiting his gallery or following him on social media such as Instagram  or Facebook.
