As part of early publicity for David Lynch and Mark Frost’s Twin Peaks, Capital Cities / ABC, Inc. produced several black and white photos featuring different characters such as Pete Martell (Jack Nance), Bobby Briggs (Dana Ashbook) and others. This particular photos showcases Richard Beymer as Benjamin Horne, owner of The Great Northern Hotel.
RICHARD BEYMER AS BENJAMIN HORNE
This black and white publicity photos shows Richard Beymer as Benjamin Horne. He greatly enjoyed working with David Lynch as he explained to Stephanie DuBois in a syndicated article from Tribune News Service in April 1990.
“Working with David was wonderful from the very beginning,”Beymer says. “There was none of the usual reading scripts or auditioning. He just talks to you and after that you’re in the project or not. It’s an intuitive thing with him … David leaves a lot up to the moment. He comes on the set and starts letting it come together spontaneously. You just don’t know what might be next.”
Most likely the shot was captured by Craig Sjodin who was a long-time ABC Television photographer. He took a series of images of Peggy Lipton and Mädchen Amick on the set of the Johnson house. Richard Beymer is probably standing by a similar door from that set in Van Nuys, California.

Richard appears to wear the red polka dot tie and matching pocket square seen in both Twin Peaks episode 1.001 and 1.002.

His striped shirt, however, is first seen in episode 1.005. There isn’t a combination with the red polka dot tie and this particular striped shirt seen in the series.

The closest combination is seen in episode 1.006 with a navy polka dot tie and cream-colored pocket square. The pattern on the navy tie doesn’t match the black and white publicity photo yet the red one does.
