Banner image with David Lynch and characters and icons from his films

BFI IMAX and Soutbank in the United Kingdom is saluting David Lynch, The Dreamer. Kimberley Sheehan and Justin Johnson, season curators, have created a month-long program celebrating the master. You may recall, Southbank screened the Twin Peaks pilot earlier this year.

Leaving his mark in film, television, art, music and the internet, Lynch challenged our perceptions of what art could be, and whatever his medium, he was an artist of pure singular visions without compromise. We invite you to enter or re-enter these visions with us. Experience his great masterpieces like Blue Velvet and Mulholland Drive on the big screen. Discover the innovative experiments of his short films. Nurture your own ideas and creativity through contextual events. We want you on the journey, as we thank the dreamer for his art and celebrate his legacy.

There are so many things to see at BFI Southbank that it’s easier to check out the dates (with links to purchase tickets) on their website.

For BFI IMAX, here is a listing of David Lynch film’s they will be screening in January.

Naomi Watts and David Lynch behind the scenes of Mulholland Drive

David Lynch, one of the most original, singular and unique artists of American cinema and television in the last fifty years, sadly died last year. The term ‘Lynchian’ is used to describe something that has a dreamlike quality with an air of mystery or menace. His work was also laced with a wonderfully off-the-wall sense of humour. Films like TWIN PEAKS: FIRE WALK WITH ME and MULHOLLAND DRIVE demonstrate this. 20th January 2026 would have been his 80th birthday.

To mark this event and to celebrate his legacy, Triskel Arts Centre, located at Tobin St., Cork City, Ireland, will screen four of his finest feature length films on Fridays throughout January.

Blue Velvet

The Brattle Theatre, located at 40 Brattle Street in Cambridge, Massachusetts, is paying an 80th birthday tribute to one of our favorite film directors, David Lynch, with three of his most significant films.

  • January 19 – Blue Velvet – In Lynch’s 1986 film, he digs below the surface of smalltown America to unearth a dark and disturbing realm of shadows lurking just below the grassy lawns and white picket fences. Showtime is at 9:00 p.m.
  • January 20 – Eraserhead – Lynch’s feature debut remains a beguilingly obtuse and yet also puzzlingly direct meditation on the terror of parenthood. And, no, we still don’t talk about the baby. Showtimes are 4:00 and 9:30 p.m.
  • January 20 – Inland Empire – Lynch’s final feature film (which premiered here at The Brattle in 2006) defies explanation as it follows a Hollywood actress (Laura Dern) whose real-life blurs with her work, her dreams, fantasy, history, and alternate realities as she takes on a new film role. Or you can just go with Lynch’s explanation: “[it’s] about a woman in trouble, and it’s a mystery, and that’s all I want to say about it.” Showtime is 6:00 p.m.

Twin Peaks: The Return, Part 2

On Saturday, January 24 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., join a David Lynch inspired creativity, meditation, & sound workshop, led by The Library of Esoterica’s Jessica Hundley with live music by SEEKERS!

This creativity, meditation, and sound workshop inspired by the work of David Lynch invites participants into the fertile silence beneath thought, where ideas originate before they take form. Drawing on Lynch’s lifelong practice of meditation, as well as his books Catching the Big Fish and Beyond the Beyond, we’ll explore Lynch’s belief that creativity emerges from accessing deeper levels of consciousness.

The workshop blends creative prompts and guided meditations with live immersive soundscapes, interspersed with spoken word recordings by David Lynch himself, to quiet surface noise and awaken intuition. Rather than forcing inspiration, participants learn to listen. The experience emphasizes Lynch’s conviction that creativity is a state of being: a tuning of perception, where inner calm becomes the wellspring for vision, clarity, and imaginative flow. Bring a journal, a pen, and a mind that is open!

This workshop is led by The Library of Esoterica’s Jessica Hundley, who worked closely with Lynch on Beyond the Beyond, (a book exploring creativity and meditation), as well as interviewing Lynch numerous times throughout his legendary filmmaking career.

The event will be held at Philosophical Research Society, located at 3910 Los Feliz Boulevard. Ticket information is found HERE.
