Take a Hike Along Weeks Falls Trail in Olallie State Park

Weeks Falls Trail

One of my favorite places to visit in Snoqualmie Valley is Olallie State Park outside of North Bend, Washington. This wooded wonderland served as the film location for many scenes in Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me and Twin Peaks: The Return. During a visit to the “Real Twin Peaks,” I filmed my walk along the nearly mile long trail during a late summer morning. Put on your boots and take a 23-minute hike with me.

WHERE IS WEEKS FALLS TRAIL AND OLALLIE STATE PARK LOCATED?

Weeks Falls Interpretive Trail in Olallie State Park is located at 51350 SE Homestead Valley Rd outside North Bend. The park opened in the 1950s when the Washington State Parks purchased a 160-acre parcel from Puget Sound Power and Light. After an expansion in 1976, the name was changed from Twin Falls State Park to “Olallie” which is a Chinook word for “berries” commonly found in the park.

You’ll need a Discover Pass in order to visit the short as the park rangers do enforce parking. The pass is easy to purchase online or you can buy one at the parking lot entrance.

Once you park in the lot near the Ranger’s house (which was the Deer Meadow Sheriff’s Department in Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me), it takes about 12-15 minutes to walk the less than a mile trail to Weeks Falls.

The trail was named after William Weeks, the co-owner of the North Bend Lumber Co. He was born on February 26, 1863 in Lancaster, Hampshire and died on September 10, 1937 in North Bend. The town of Edgewick, along with the falls at Olallie State Park, are named after Mr. Weeks. Interestingly, the town was swept away in a terrible flood in 1918 according to fascinating article on SavorSnoqualmieValley.com.

It’s no surprise the Twin Peaks crew loved Olallie State Park as it gave them plenty of spots to film numerous scenes in Lynch’s feature film and the third season on Showtime.

On August 19, 2025, I filmed my walk from the parking lot to Weeks Falls and back during a late summer morning. The park is incredibly peaceful as you can hear the Snoqualmie River flowing nearby.
