For years, I’ve been on a quest to track down every interview about my favorite television show Twin Peaks and favorite David Lynch film, Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me. It’s great having fellow Bookhouse Boys and Gals join in the fun. 1400 River Road let me borrow several clippings she saved which I have scanned for future articles on the site. One such clipping, titled “Twin Perks,” contains a brief interview with Catherine Coulson who played the Log Lady in Lynch’s 1992 film.
“TWIN PERKS” – INTERVIEW WITH CATHERINE COULSON FROM 1992
1400 River Road saved this short interview wither Catherine from an unknown magazine. A small “92” was handwritten near the publicity photo. Based on the article, I’m guessing it’s from August 1992, just before Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me debuted in U.S. theatres on August 28.

Here is a transcript of the interview:
“There’s an advantage to being a cult figure,” says Catherine Coulson, who, having played The Log Lady on Twin Peaks, definitely knows whereof she speaks. “People tend to listen to me. I’m recognized wherever I go. I can get a nice seat in a restaurant, but, more importantly, I’ve been able to do work for AIDS and the environment – things that matter.”
Look for Coulson to reprise her small-screen role in “Fire Walk with Me,” the big-screen prequel to the David Lynch TV series set to open Aug. 28.
Will the prequel spawn a sequel? “I don’t think we’ve seen the last of Twin Peaks,” she says. “But I don’t have the log here, so I wouldn’t want to predict.”

The publicity photo of Coulson is credited to Lorey Sebastian, the late on-set photographer for Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me. But I’ve also seen this image credited to Paula K Shimatsu-u who provided publicity photos during the show’s second season.
A second photo from this shoot has Catherine in a different pose.
When I find the original magazine, I’ll update the article with that detail. My gut says it might be from a TV Guide.
Thank you again to 1400 River Road for sharing this clipping!
