Since David Lynch’s passing in January this year, it feels like more and more people are discovering Twin Peaks. I’ve encountered several new fans either online or at the recent Real Twin Peaks event in Snoqualmie, Washington. On June 13, even more folks may discover Lynch and co-creator Mark Frost’s groundbreaking series that changed television forever when all three seasons of the show arrive on MUBI.
WHAT IS MUBI?
MUBI, a place to discover ambitious films by visionary filmmakers, is a global streaming platform, production company and film distributor. Turkish entrepreneur Efe Çakarel founded the company in 2007 which was originally known as The Auteurs. In 2008, the company partnered with Criterion Collection to introduce a video-on-demand service. Two years later, the company changed its name to “Mubi” or “MUBI,” a two-syllable word with no specific meaning that rhymes with “movie.”
Mubi produces and theatrically distributes films by emerging and established filmmakers, which are exclusively available on its platform.
Movie lovers can subscribe either monthly ($14.99/month) or yearly ($119.88 for a one-time fee which is $9.99/month) to get access to hundreds of films including world cinema films, such as arthouse, documentary and independent films.
They believe cinema should be “viewed on screens of all shapes and sizes” (Don’t tell David Lynch), which means there are plenty of viewing options including web browsers, streaming media players, smart TVs, mobile devices and more. Their curators scour film festivals for the “most exciting and original new films,” which they bring to the big screen with the same care and attention they give to their curated platform.
TWIN PEAKS ARRIVES ON MUBI ON JUNE 13, 2025
Mubi licensed the rights from Paramount Global Content Distribution to all three seasons of David Lynch and Mark Frost’s Twin Peaks, including the first two seasons from 1990-1991 and the incredible Twin Peaks: The Return which aired on the Showtime Network in 2017.
On June 13, subscribers can view 30 episodes of the original series and 18 parts from the more recent Showtime broadcast. Subscribers to Paramount+ and Showtime will still find the series on that streaming service in addition to MUBI.
The Mubi team created a fantastic 30-second teaser which was shared on multiple social platforms on April 23, 2025. If you have never seen Twin Peaks (what are you doing here? And come on, it’s been 35 years!), there are some potential spoilers in this teaser video.
Katharina Feistauer, MUBI’s Vice President, Global Head of Programming, explained how acquiring licensing rights is a dream for MUBI.
“Launching Twin Peaks alongside Twin Peaks: A Limited Event Series is a dream for MUBI, bringing one of the most loved and discussed series in TV history to the platform.” said Feistauer. “Whilst this launch has been months in the making, the sad news of David Lynch’s death only a few weeks ago makes this opportunity to show his iconic work even more special. We are excited for the Lynch fans in our membership to revisit the episodes comprehensively, as well creating an opportunity for new audiences to discover it for the first time.”
IndieWire.com was told by a MUBI representative that “the deal between MUBI and Paramount Global was specifically made for ‘Twin Peaks.’
The series will be available on MUBI in the following territories: US, UK, Latin America, Germany, Turkey, India, Netherlands, Italy and more.
ANNOUNCING TWIN PEAKS ON MUBI – APRIL 2025
Mubi recently sponsored a 10-day David Lynch retrospective in Chicago, Illinois at the Music Box Theatre from Apr. 11-20, 2025. Curated by former Music Box projectionist Daniel Knox, Each screening included pre-show programming comprised Lynch short rarities and many also featured post-film Q&As conducted by The Blue Rose Magazine’s Scott Ryan. Their name was featured on the marquee for this event.

On April 19, 2025, MUBI posted a nice tribute on their Facebook page to Special Agent Dale Cooper’s fictional birthday, April 19. They chose the popular dialogue written by Harley Peyton for Twin Peaks episode 1.006 where Cooper tells Sheriff Harry Truman a secret to life while at the Double R Diner.
The company had not recently posted about Lynch and Frost’s series so I take this as a tease to the announcement being made just a few days later.

On April 23, the company made an official announcement that the series would be streaming beginning June 13. Their post on Facebook read: “Five miles south of the Canadian border, twelve miles west of the state line. Welcome to Twin Peaks. David Lynch & Mark Frost’s visionary series streams in the US, UK, Latin America, Germany, Turkey, Italy, Netherlands, India and more from June 13.”

I similar post was made on their Instagram account using a more vertical video of their 30-second teaser.
Over on YouTube, the added slightly more detail to the description (Note – Kyle’s last name needs corrected).
From the visionary minds of David Lynch and Mark Frost, the iconic series TWIN PEAKS (1990) follow FBI agent Dale Cooper (Kyle McLaughlan [sic]), as he investigates the murder of a young woman – Laura Palmer (Sheryl Lee) – in the idiosyncratic town of Twin Peaks. As the investigation progresses, several other mysteries and conspiracies are uncovered, all linking back to Laura’s murder.
TWIN PEAKS Seasons 1 & 2. Streaming from June 13 in the US, UK, Latin America, Germany, Turkey, India, Netherlands, Italy and more.
This must be what it felt like when Bravo Television first acquired the rights to broadcast Twin Peaks in June 1993. That was how I discovered my favorite television show since I missed the original ABC Television broadcast. Perhaps someone will discover this masterpiece on MUBI just like I did more than three decades ago.
A tip to those new town members – you better make that second pot of coffee.
