At 3:00 p.m., the 2022 film by Alexandre O. Philippe, Lynch/Oz, will be screened. This documentary highlights Lynch’s obsession with The Wizard of Oz and its influence on his films, which many filmmakers and critics argue should be considered a foundational text for much of his work.

At 6:00 p.m., David Lynch’s award-winning Wild At Heart races to the silver screen. Written by Lynch and Barry Gifford, the film is a wild ride.

After serving prison time for a self-defense killing, Sailor Ripley (Nicholas Cage) reunites with girlfriend Lula Fortune (Laura Dern). Lula’s mother, Marietta (Diane Ladd), desperate to keep them apart, hires a hitman to kill Sailor. But he finds a whole new set of troubles when he and Bobby Peru (Willem Dafoe), an old buddy who’s also out to get Sailor, try to rob a store. When Sailor lands in jail yet again, the young lovers appear further than ever from the shared life they covet.

Lynch’s film won the Palme d’Or at the 1990 Cannes Film Festival Winner. Ladd was nominated for Best Actress in a Supporting Role during the 1990 Academy Awards. It was nominated for Best Sound at the 1991 BAFTA Film Awards and Chris Isaak won Best Video for “Wicked Game” at the 1991 Video Music Awards.

This was my first David Lynch film I saw in 1993 which got me hooked on everything he created.

Each ticket to the Behind the Curtain screenings will include a slice of pizza.
