A look back at Undercover’s “Wonderful and Strange” Twin Peaks-themed collection continues with a look at the in-store product release. The officially licensed apparel and accessories were created by Jun Takahashi, a famous Japanese fashion designer and fan of David Lynch and Mark Frost’s work. On July 24, 2024, the company announced the nearly 80-item assortment would arrive in their shops throughout Japan and online at Undercoverism.com on July 27.
“WONDERFUL AND STRANGE” COLLECTION BY UNDERCOVER – INSTAGRAM POST ON JULY 26, 2024
One day before products were set to debut in Undercover stores, the Instagram account for Undercover shared a first look at the in-store product set.
Undercover operates several brick-and-mortar shops throughout Japan, from Tokyo to Kyoto and many spots in-between. Large graphics pulled directly from publicity imagery from the first season of Twin PeaksĀ lined the wall. Look carefully to spot the Bookhouse Boy logo incorporated throughout the location’s artwork.
Store displays incorporated a minimalistic approach. Most likely, they only offered one size on the sales floor but had other options available upon request. This was something I experienced when shopping at stores in Kyoto in November 2023.
There appears there was a second crossbody satchel with a graphic of Special Agent Dale Cooper. I only found the reference image for the satchel with Laura Palmer’s face. It most likely sold out quickly and is no longer offered online.
Ā “WONDERFUL AND STRANGE” COLLECTION BY UNDERCOVER – INSTAGRAM POST ON JULY 26, 2024
A second post showing a different store location was made on Instagram on July 26. The Fall / Winter 2024 Men’s Collection contained a few more items beyond theĀ Twin Peaks-themed assortment.
I can’t get enough of Japanese minimalism – how relaxed and non-chaotic it feels seeing these shop images.
TheĀ Twin Peaks: From Z to A Collection-inspired apparel had it’s own rack.
The previously discussed black Denim jackets and other shirts were displayed together.
Other jackets were grouped together nearby. In the background is another shot of the Dale Cooper crossbody bag. It’s the official product image I’m missing.
TheĀ Twin Peaks suit – something I’d wear to work every day if I could.
Graphic t-shirts and jeans withĀ Twin Peaks-patches sewn onto the fabric.
Backpack and baseball caps displayed together as accessory items.

A third Instagram post was made on July 26 showing off yet another retail display in a different shop.
More publicity images from the first season were incorporated in the display. These are the same graphic found on the apparel and accessories created for this collection.
Here are a few more location photos of this Twin Peaks display.
LAUNCH DAY FOR “WONDERFUL AND STRANGE” COLLECTION – INSTAGRAM POST ON JULY 27, 2024
One final Instagram post was made by Undercover on July 27, the day the products officially set in stores and was released online.
The caption read: “UNDERCOVER 2024AW MEN’S COLLECTION “WONDERFUL AND STRANGE” has arrived in store on Saturday, July 27th.
In conjunction with the start of the season, a promotion expressing the world of the collection is being held at Isetan Shinjuku Men’s Building 6F Men’s Creators from Wednesday, July 31st through Tuesday, August 13th.”
More on the display at Isetan in a moment but first are some in-store images at this location.
ISETAN SHINJUKU MEN’S BUILDING 6F MEN’S CREATORS – JULY 31 THROUGH AUG. 13, 2024
The Isetan Shinjuku Store is a Japanese department store with a “Men’s Creators” section on the 6th floor. They periodically hold pop-up shops featuring the latest trendy fashion designs. TheirĀ Twin Peaks pop-up was held between July 31 through August 13, 2024. They described the collection on their website:
The 2024 Fall/Winter collection is centered around the TV drama “Twin Peaks,” and incorporates various techniques inspired by the show into daily wear and formal wear. This drama, which became a huge hit around the world in the early 1990s, tells the story of mysterious events that occur in a small town in America, starting with a sudden murder and assault incident. The collection uses visuals that symbolize the drama, such as the character FBI agent Dale Cooper, Laura Palmer, who was found dead, and the rural scenery where the story takes place. Intricate embroidery and techniques are incorporated into the designs, which at first glance appear casual.
The collection creates a dark and surreal atmosphere like “Twin Peaks” in the overall world view. We hope you will take this promotional opportunity to enjoy the brand’s world view in stores.
The department store made three social media posts on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram which utilized the same images from the @Undercover_Lab Instagram post above.
Next up, a look at the entire collection offered on Undercover’s online shop, Undercoverism.com. See the Complete Catalog for this collection on Twin Peaks Blog.
