Twin Peaks Apparel and Accessories By Undercover at Nordstrom

Twin Peaks Sweater with Nordstrom logo

A few weeks ago, I learned Nordstrom was carrying a small assortment of Twin Peaks-themed apparel and accessories by Undercover. This is the second time this year a notable national retailer was carrying items inspired by David Lynch and Mark Frost’s wonderful and strange show (the first being H&M). I was initially surprised by the retail prices until I learned the products were part of a much larger Fall / Winter 2024 collection by Japanese designer Jun Takahashi. Nordstrom’s assortment contains a handful of products first released in July 2024 with one notable addition.

Long-time fashion designer and fan of David Lynch’s works, Jun Takahashi created an assortment of more than 80 items for his Fall / Winter Men’s collection in 2024. First previewed at the Paris Fashion Show in January 2024, this collection was released in Japanese stores and online location photos from the product set on July 27. This was one of the largest product releases of officially licensed merchandise since Twin Peaks: The Return debuted on Showtime in 2017.

The first item that caught my eye on Nordstrom’s website was the Twin Peaks Down Puffer Jacket which contains a forest graphic from by the Twin Peaks: From Z To A Box Set. The trees are from a stock photo of the Carpathian Mountains (not Washington state).

The site description reads: “Foggy peaks paint a pretty scene on this down puffer jacket from Undercover’s ‘Wonderful and Strange’ collection—an homage to the ’90s-classic, bemusing television series ‘Twin Peaks.'”

My wife and I are planning a trip to Iceland in the new year and I tried convincing her I needed this jacket. At $3,160, it was a lost cause but it certainly is something to behold. The model images include a tote bag not found on Nordstrom’s site but it was once available on the Undercover site.

Sticking with jackets, Nordstrom also offered a Twin Peaks Hooded Bomber Jacket described as: “Agent Cooper stars on the back of this hooded bomber jacket from Undercover’s fall ’24 Wonderful and Strange collection—an homage to the ’90s classic, bemusing television series, ‘Twin Peaks.'”

This jacket also has a retail of $3,160 (and no, I couldn’t get this one either). On the Undercoverism website, this jacket was known as Nylon MA-1 Jacket

TWIN PEAKS SUIT BY UNDERCOVER

Takahashi incorporated patches of publicity images from the first season of Lynch and Frost’s show. Part of the “patch series,” they appeared on sweaters, t-shirts, accessories and suit apparel. For the Twin Peaks Single Breasted Wool Blazer, four Jacquard patches are sewn directly onto the fabric. Nordstrom’s website described this jacket as follows: “Enter Undercover’s ‘Wonderful and Strange’ collection—an homage to the ’90s-classic, bemusing television series ‘Twin Peaks’—in this single-breasted wool blazer starring nostalgic snapshots of the program’s idiosyncratic protagonist and recognizable landmarks.” Retail $2,010

The matching Twin Peaks Wool Pants also contained a Jacquard patch of the “Welcome to Twin Peaks” sign spot along Reinig Road in Snoqualmie, Washington. With a retail of $1,120, the site description is similar to the wool blazer: “Enter Undercover’s ‘Wonderful and Strange’ collection—an homage to the ’90s-classic, bemusing television series ‘Twin Peaks’—in these pants starring nostalgic snapshots of the program’s idiosyncratic protagonist and recognizable landmarks.”

I wear suits nearly every day to work and I’m convinced this would be the best addition to my closet.

TWIN PEAKS GRAPHIC T-SHIRTS BY UNDERCOVER

Nordstrom picked up several of the oversized cotton graphic t-shirts by Undercover which are part of Takahashi’s patch collection. The Twin Peaks Oversized Cotton Graphic T-shirt in black has a retail of $400.

Nordstrom described this shirt as follows: “Whichever peak you pick to climb, do it in comfort. Enter this soft and roomy T-shirt from Undercover’s ‘Wonderful and Strange’ collection—an homage to the ’90s-classic, bemusing television series ‘Twin Peaks.'”

The front left breast patch features a cropped, iconic image of Special Agent Dale Cooper (Kyle MacLachlan) holding one of his tape recorders.

The Twin Peaks Oversized Cotton Graphic Tee in dark red contains different patches with images in black and white. The shirt also has a retail of $400.

Nordstrom used the same description as the black tee for this shirt: “Whichever peak you pick to climb, do it in comfort. Enter this soft and roomy T-shirt from Undercover’s ‘Wonderful and Strange’ collection—an homage to the ’90s-classic bemusing television series ‘Twin Peaks.'”

A third Twin Peaks Oversized Cotton Graphic tee salutes the Double R Diner, the place where pies go when they die. With a retail of $290, the shirt is described as, “Borrowed imagery from the cult-classic television series dominates a cotton T-shirt designed in a comfortably oversized silhouette.”

The front left breast pocket contains a logo similar to the Double R Diner logo shown above except both letter “R”s are white.

The back graphic contains this publicity shot captured on location in February 1989 at the former Mar-T Cafe in North Bend, Washington (known today as Twede’s Cafe).

One final Twin Peaks Oversized Cotton Graphic tee in white contains a stylized “Twin Peaks” logo on the front with an image of the “Welcome to Twin Peaks” sign spot on the back. The shirt has a retail of $430 and was described as: “Be a trend- and pacesetter in this oversized graphic T-shirt featuring ‘Twin Peaks’ on the front and a classic still from the iconic ’90s series opening on the back.” (Clearly the copywriter isn’t a fan of the series as what kind of description is that?).

The stylized show logo doesn’t appear anywhere in the series. I had a difficult time finding which font was used to create the graphic.

The same show logo is found on the Twin Peaks Oversized Cotton Graphic Hoodie which has a retail of $570.

Nordstrom offered some additional insight via their product description: “Enter Undercover’s ‘Wonderful and Strange’ collection—an homage to the ’90s-classic, bemusing television series ‘Twin Peaks’—through the roomy comfort of this pullover hoodie with the show’s title printed at the front and the sentiment for which this line is named quoted at the back. A scouting-style badge merits a spot above the quote, and the ‘Twin Peaks’ icon is embroidered above one cuff.”

A “scouting-style badge” is actually the Bookhouse Boys logo and the quote is from Special Agent Dale Cooper in episode 2.018 when the law enforcement team explored Owl Cave: “I have no idea where this will lead us, but I have a definite feeling it will be a place both wonderful and strange.” I would have gladly helped Nordstrom with the copy.

Takahashi named his entire collection “Wonderful and Strange.” I’m beginning to think, however, this assortment was not made for a hardcore fan like myself. Nevertheless, it’s exciting to see new Twin Peaks products nearly 35 years after the show aired on the ABC Television Network.

OTHER TWIN PEAKS ACCESSORIES BY UNDERCOVER

Nordstrom offered one Twin Peaks Embroidered Wool Baseball Cap in black made by Kijima Takayuki (retail $360). This company was previously known as “coeur” until 2013 when they rebranded to the hat designer’s name. According to their website, they started “HIGH LINE” in 2017 which is “a high-end line for the Fall/Winter season. This collection uses rare and luxurious raw materials through traditional haute mode techniques, according to the immutable values of the designer.”

Strangely, Nordstrom’s site offers no details about the hat designer: “Enter Undercover’s ‘Wonderful and Strange’ collection—an homage to the ’90s-classic, bemusing television series ‘Twin Peaks’—through this wool baseball cap with an adjustable back strap.”

The full assortment from Undercover contained other hat colors including a Brown hat (UC2D4H01-2) with Bookhouse Boys logo, Gray Hat (UC2D4H01-3) with Twin Peaks Sheriff Department logo, and two hats Double R Diner logos – Bordeaux (UC2D4H01-4) and Navy (UC2D4H01-5). Each hat had a retail of ¥43,312.

The now sold out Twin Peaks Nylon and Leather Backpack had a retail of $930. It contained patches similar to the ones previously found on t-shirts and the wool blazer. Cooper’s quote from Owl Cave circled the top of the pack.

The website description read: “Whichever peak you pick to climb, pack along the essentials (but be sure to leave room for pie) in this backpack from Undercover’s fall ’24 Wonderful and Strange collection—an homage to the ’90s classic, bemusing television series, ‘Twin Peaks.'”

This backpack was a CORDURA® Daypack and was offered in two other colors from Undercover – Navy (UC2D4B05-2) and Bordeaux (UC2D4B05-1).

TWIN PEAKS WOOL AND CASHMERE SWEATER

The final item in this collection appears to be something created especially for Nordstrom. During my extensive research about Undercover’s collection, I found no reference images or location photos. With a retail of $930, the Twin Peaks Wool and Cashmere Sweater contains a simple “Twin Peaks” show logo across the front.

The website described this sweater as: “Enter Undercover’s ‘Wonderful and Strange’ collection—an homage to the ’90s-classic, bemusing television series ‘Twin Peaks’—through this cashmere-enriched wool sweater.”

The brown lettering with green outline is pulled directly from the Twin Peaks pilot episode – it reminds me of when I first discovered my all-time favorite show in the early 1990s.

After seeing it, I decided to give myself a present. I love this sweater for its understated beauty. My wife snapped this photo of me holding my small, Mexican Chi-wow-wow named Nori shortly after I received it in the mail. No doubt I’ll be wearing this thing to the Real Twin Peaks 2025 event in Snoqualmie Valley next February.
