Twin Peaks Prop – Peach Lustre Fire-King Mug

You’ve probably noticed the jadeite green coffee mug seen around the Twin Peaks Sheriff Department (which Steven Miller first wrote about here in 2018). But did you know the station also has an identical counterpart with a peach colored finish?

Both mugs are part of glass manufacturer Anchor Hocking’s Fire-King line and feature a notched D-shaped handle. The Fire-King brand was introduced in the 1940s and was made from borosilicate glass, a low expansion material resistant to thermal shock. This made it suitable for oven use.

Its durability and range of designs contributed to its lasting popularity, with vintage Fire-King ware still appealing to collectors today. The reflective orange finish seen in Twin Peaks is called “Peach Lustre.”

The Anchor Hocking and Fire-King brands are still active and have been distributed by parent company The Oneida Group since 2017.

By my count, the “Peach Lustre” mug appears in five episodes in the second season. First, Deputy Hawk drinks from it at the start of episode 2007 when the gang enjoys coffee and donuts while standing in a line.

The peach mug and its jadeite twin are visible on the antler rack as Lucy holds her nephew in episode 2008.

It remains on the rack in episode 2009 as Mr. Zipper, the sprinkler repair man, overhears some juicy gossip.

Both Fire-King mugs are featured prominently as Cooper looks through local properties with realtor Irene Littlehorse in episode 2012.

Major Briggs and The Log Lady
Episode 2017

Lastly, the mug is visible in episode 2017 as Major Briggs and the Log Lady compare the mysterious marks they each received in the woods. It is impossible to determine which, if either, of these characters would’ve been using the mug in this scene as it sits so far behind them. Considering its placement among chess boards, it is possible that Pete Martell may have left it there.
