Ultimate Twin Peaks Gift Guide for 2020

‘Tis the season to spread some holiday cheer! After the way this year has gone, we could all use a good pick me up. I’ve spent the past few days scouring the internet to create my 2020 Ultimate Gift Guide filled with the most unique ideas for the special Twin Peaks (or David Lynch) fan in your life.

**NOTE**
This guide was first published on November 21, 2020. Several items may no longer be available. Some links were updated on October 12, 2024 to current offerings and websites.

IT GOES OVER YOUR NOSE

Ultimate Twin Peaks Gift Guide 2020 - Face Coverings

Since we are still not out of the woods with the COVID-19 pandemic, the top gift item this year is a Twin Peaks or David Lynch-themed face covering. Politics aside, this simple item can help protect your loved ones from getting this terrible virus. Luckily, there are plenty of options which I discuss in this round-up article.

The official Showtime Store is now offering a three-pack of face coverings which a portion of the proceeds will be donated to Feeding America to help put food on the table for families across the country.

The Studio: David Lynch store is also offering several design inspired by David Lynch’s artwork and stories. I love my “What Would Jack Do?” face covering which is available in two different styles.

You can also find a handful of masks at Society6 which have Twin Peaks-inspired designs.

Retail – $10-$25

OFFICIAL SHOWTIME STORE

Ultimate Twin Peaks Gift Guide 2020 - Showtime Store

After picking up a face covering, stop by the official Showtime Store for Twin Peaks. Launched in late 2016 with Season 3 returning to the small screen after a 25-year hiatus, this official store include shirts, mugs, blankets, and more, featuring favorites from the Double R Diner, the Red Room, and the reasonably priced Great Northern Hotel.

Ultimate Twin Peaks Gift Guide 2020 - Showtime Store

The Showtime store has so many choice, many of which you can personalize. I selected a handful of items that caught my eye. Since this year is the 30th Anniversary of my favorite show, there is a small collection of Twin Peaks 30 products including apparel, a mug and a sticker.

Great Northern Hotel Sweater

My favorite item this year is the amazing holiday sweater inspired by The Great Northern Hotel. The sweater is 100% Acrylic and is available in sizes small to XXL. They released also matching flat ornament this year.

Retails – Most retails vary by item but there are price points for every wallet. The holiday sweater is $54.95 and the flat ornament is $12.95.

TWEDE’S CAFE MERCHANDISE

Ultimate Twin Peaks Gift Guide 2020 - Twede's Cafe Merchandise

This year saw a change in ownership of Twede’s Cafe, the iconic small town diner in North Bend, Washington that served as the film location for the Double R Diner. Rachel and Max have done an outstanding job keeping the diner going despite this incredibly challenging year. You can order merchandise directly from the cafe by visiting TwedesCafeMerch.com.

Twede's Cafe pins

I’m in love with the four enamel pins by Jenni’s Prints which are presented in matchbook-like covers. The pins are quite popular and sell out quickly so keep your eyes open for when they get more in stock.

Another option to help Twede’s Cafe during this difficult year is to get a gift certificate. They are available in $20, $50 and $100 increments. I can’t wait to use mine when I return to Snoqualmie Valley after all this time is over.

Retails: Vary by items. The pins are $15.00 each.

GIFTS FROM THE SALISH LODGE

Gifts from The Salish Lodge

My wife and I fell in love with the Salish Lodge & Spa located in Snoqualmie, Washington. This wonderful resort sits above Snoqualmie Falls and served as the exterior film location for The Great Northern Hotel.

They have several items available via their online store including their delicious honey (seriously so good), owl-themed socks and a wooden ornament with artwork of the lodge, falls and Mt. Si.

Retails: Honey ranges from $5-$25; socks $11.95; ornament $12.95

Fans discovered a damn fine collection of art dedicated to eccentric characters, iconic lines and trademark themes. I wrote an article about this collection every day in the month of June which you can see HERE.

FOR YOUR BOOKHOUSE

Twin Peaks Books

There are so many essential Twin Peaks books that make perfect additions to your Bookhouse. Here are a few of my favorites:

Twin Peaks UnwrappedTwin Peaks Unwrapped, has over 200 episodes, and now they have a book. Hosts Ben Durant and Bryon Kozaczka have interviewed just about every actor on the show, writer, fan and crazy theorist over the 200 episodes. The book compiles all they have unwrapped about David Lynch & Mark Frost’s Twin Peaks over the past few years. This book will be released on April 8, 2020, the 30th Anniversary of the first broadcast of the Twin Peaks Pilot Episode.

Retail – $30

Conversations with Mark Frost – This book, comprising a series of interviews by David Bushman with Mark Frost over the course of a single year, finally and fully acknowledges the extent of Frost’s contributions to Twin Peaks, and to American television in general, as a writer/producer on Hill Street Blues and other shows, and as a mentor to numerous other writers.

Retail – $30

Laura’s Ghost: Women Speak About Twin Peaks– In Laura’s Ghost: Women Speak About Twin Peaks, Courtney Stallings examines Laura Palmer’s legacy on the 30th anniversary of Twin Peaks. Palmer’s character was one of the few frank and horrific representations of sexual abuse victims which did not diminish the strength and complexity of the victim. This book is a reckoning in which women from the show and community speak about grief, mischief, humor, sexuality, strength, weakness, wickedness, and survival.

Retail – $30

Reflections: An Oral History of Twin Peaks – Longtime fan and original Bookhouse Boy Brad Dukes goes behind the curtain of Twin Peaks and documents the series’ unlikely beginnings, widespread success, and peculiar collapse. Featuring first-hand accounts from series co-creator Mark Frost and cast members including Kyle MacLachlan, Joan Chen, Sherilyn Fenn, Piper Laurie, Michael Ontkean, Ray Wise, Billy Zane, and many more Reflections explores the magic and mystique of a true television phenomenon.

Retail – $19

ALWAYS MUSIC IN THE AIR

Music is always playing in my house and these are a few albums I can’t get enough of this year.

Twin Peaks Gift Guide - Dean Hurley on Bandcamp.com
Bandcamp.com

Dean Hurley’s “Anthology Resource Vol. II – Philosophy of Beyond” – Dean, who operated and managed Lynch’s Asymmetrical Studio from 2005-2018, created a dreamy sonic landscape with this new release that is a wonderful follow up to Anthology Resource Vol. 1. You can read my Love Letter to this album here). Both albums are currently available on Dean’s Bandcamp page.

Retail – $5 – $32 depending on format

Waxen Hand

Waxen Hand – Fellow Twin Peaks Blog author Vinnie Guidera released a heavy instrumental solo project as Waxen Hand. He’s usually serving as the frontman of Vinnie Guidera & The Dead Birds but his solo departure rocks. It was recorded in quarantine from June-July 2020. I particularly love the song titles which Twin Peaks fans may recognize.

The album is available via Bandcamp.

Daniel Knox - Half Heart Songs from Twin Peaks

Daniel Knox – Fellow Bookhouse Boy Daniel Knox’s moody “Half Heart: Songs from Twin Peaks” is the perfect soundtrack for any day. Released in February 2020, this album contains interpretations of classic Twin Peaks tunes from Angelo Badalamenti.

Check it out on Daniel’s Bandcamp page.

SNOQUALMIE VALLEY HISTORICAL MUSEUM

Snoqualmie Valley Historical Museum
