With Twin Peaks celebrating its 30th Anniversary this year, Showtime has been collaborating with unique designers and companies to create commemorative merchandise. In June 2020, we saw a month-long art collection on Society6. More recently, a 30th Anniversary coffee blend was released by Colorado-based Allegro Coffee. Now, London-based Milltag has launched a limited release cycling attire collection. Applying my archivist approach to all-things Twin Peaks, here is a look at the collection and press surrounding it.
NOTE – THIS COLLECTION IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE AS MILLTAG HAS CLOSED
WHAT IS MILLTAG?

Unable to find cycling jerseys that weren’t “boring, generic and uninspiring,” Ed Cowburn and Pete Kelsey formed Milltag in 2010. Beginning with limited edition jerseys and collaborations with renown designers, demand grew within that first year. They expanded production to include custom kits and have since sold thousands of designs around the world. They are the official race supplier for the first two editions of the ASO’s Tour de Yorkshire and Tour of Oman. They believe that cycling should be enjoyed and continue creating high-quality and stylish products for cyclist around the world.
Their lead designer is Sullivan Corde who I assume helped develop the 30th Anniversary Collection.
In January 2023, Milltag entered voluntary liquidation and closed.
TWIN PEAKS COLLECTION BY MILLTAG
The Twin Peaks collection by Milltag.cc was launched on July 16, 2020. I somehow missed the launch announcement because why would I ever think there would be a cycling collection. It was until the official Showtime accounts shared the news on July 17 that I learned about the collaboration.
Their landing page described the collection as follows:
This collection is available for pre-order until 9th August with delivery early October.
It’s been 30 years since the debut of one of the most iconic television shows of all time. It got us thinking: what if the town of Twin Peaks had a cycling club?
We gave Twin Peaks CC a color scheme that matched their natural surroundings, echoing the forests of the area with an earthy green and brown tone. We wanted to pay homage to the famous locations in the show that give it so much depth. Cafe stops at the Double R diner, accommodation at the Great Northern Hotel, sponsorship from the Packard Saw Mill and refreshments from Big Ed’s Gas Farm.
Now you too can join Twin Peaks CC

There are seven items currently available for pre-order. Prices are listed in Pounds.
TWIN PEAKS JERSEYS AND PRO BIB SHORTS BY MILLTAG

There was a lightweight Stretchfit short sleeve Men’s Jersey that has three rear pockets with a hidden zipped valuables pocket. Reflective strips are found under the pockets.

A similar jersey was also available for women and includes pockets and reflective strips similar to the men’s cut.

Milltag is also offering Pro Bib Shorts for both Women and Men. Made of Elastane compression fabric, the bibs contain a top of the range Pro Pad. They also have deep mesh Power Cuffs with integrated silicone grippers and black body-netting bib braces.
TWIN PEAKS CAP AND MITTS BY MILLTAG

The 4-panel cycling cap contained the Twin Peaks logo on both the top and underside brim. It’s 100% Polyester and one size fits all.

The 100% Polyester cycling mitts contained multi-leather pads and each hand has one word, either “Twin” or “Peaks.”
TWIN PEAKS SNOOD BY MILLTAG

The snood, or wide ring of knitted material worn as a hood or scarf, featured the Twin Peaks logo with earthy green and brown tones.
TWIN PEAKS PRODUCTS BY MILLTAG – PUBLICITY SHOTS

Milltag produced a number of publicity shots showcasing this anniversary collection. The shots were used on their website as well as on social media channels.

Each of these shots shows the products in action. Love that they included a cup of coffee.
TWIN PEAKS PRODUCTS BY MILLTAG – ADDITIONAL PRODUCT SHOTS

Additional product shots were included on individual product pages. I grouped them all here to showcase the entire collection.

The front and back of the Men’s Jersey even had the Packard Saw Mill logo briefly seen in episode 1.007.

The Welcome to Twin Peaks Twitter account (@ThatsOurWaldo) shared this great behind-the-scenes image of the Packard Saw Mill logo used in the series. This was shot in Southern California versus Snoqualmie, Washington.

TWIN PEAKS PRODUCTS BY MILLTAG – MARKETING

Milltag announced the collaboration via their social media accounts on July 16, 2020.

For the posts, they used the following description:

On July 17, 2020, the official Showtime accounts for Twin Peaks shared details and images about this collection.

BICYCLES IN TWIN PEAKS

While there may not be a Twin Peaks Cycling Club featured in the show, there are several bicycles seen throughout the series and feature film. Donna Hayward borrows her sister Harriet’s bike when meeting James Hurley at the Roadhouse in the Pilot.

She leaves the bicycle outside the Roadhouse. Later after an encounter at the Twin Peaks Sheriff’s Department, her father reminds her that Harriet’s bike needs air in the tires.

Ben Horne could have been a member of the fictitious cycling club. We see him on a stationary bike in episode 1.004.

Finally, during Leland Palmer’s flashback scene with Teresa Banks at the Red Diamond City Motel, we see a bicycle hanging in the garage.

The bike was still at the Mt. Si Motel years later

On April 27, 2010, Charles from the former InTwinPeaks.com reported on his visit to the Mt. Si Motel:
“Went over to the Mt. Si Motel (a.k.a. Blue Diamond Motel) and asked if I could buy the bike that was in the shot behind Theresa Banks in FWWM. It’s been there for nearly 20 years! The awesome owners, Marlo (mom) and Sonya (daughter) agreed to sell me the bike. How awesome is THAT!?”
Happy Cycling!
