Twin Peaks X Society6 – Cherry Pie Dreams

Artwork of Dale Cooper with Welcome to Twin Peaks sign in his face

I can only imagine the spike in cherry pie sales shortly after Twin Peaks debuted on April 8, 1990. Cherry pie and David Lynch and Mark Frost’s wonderful and strange show go hand-in-hand, with the delicious dessert being mentioned about 30 minutes into the Pilot Episode. With that in mind, the title of today’s Society6 artwork by Marissa Edwards is appropriate – “Cherry Pie Dreams.” Let’s take a closer look at her Special Agent Dale Cooper inspired design.

The Twin Peaks X Society6 collection is no longer available as of 2024. This article is an archive of the artwork featured in this collection released in 2020 for the 30th anniversary of David Lynch and Mark Frost’s wonderful and strange series.

Michigan-based artist Marissa Edwards replaced Special Agent Dale Cooper’s face with a nod to the “Welcome to Twin Peaks” sign spot. She then placed his head over a Black Lodge / Red Room-inspired diamond design.

She’s created similar concepts using outstanding animated series like Gravity Falls, Steven Universe, Adventure Time and He-Man. Love them all!

CHERRY PIE IN TWIN PEAKS

“Pie. Whoever invented the pie? Here was a great person. In Twin Peaks, we specialize in cherry pie and huckleberry pie. We do have many other types of pie, and at the Double R Diner, Norma knows how to make them all better than anyone I have ever known.” – The Log Lady Introductions, Episode 2019

Special Agent Dale Cooper in the Pilot Episode
Pilot

The first mention of cherry pie takes place while Agent Cooper drives into the town of Twin Peaks. Via his handheld recorder, he tells Diane recounts the lunch he enjoyed at The Lamplighter Inn on highway 2 near Louis Fork.

Cooper loved the pie so much that he tells Sheriff Truman about it during their first meeting at Calhoun Memorial Hospital.

SEASON 3 CHERRY PIE DREAMS

The Mitchum Brothers and Dougie Jones
Part 11

Bradley Mitchum in Twin Peaks Part 11 on Showtime even has a dream about cherry pie. He reasons that if Dougie Jones has a pie in the cardboard box he’s holding, his brother Rodney can’t kill him.

Part 11

Dougie Jones, of course, has brought pie.
