Art Peaks – Twin Peaks Drawing Challenge by Haleigh Mooney

Image collage of Haleigh Mooney's Twin Peaks sketches

In my travels, I often wear Twin Peaks-themed t-shirts as they spark instant conversations with fellow fans of David Lynch and Mark Frost’s wonderful and strange show. During a recent visit to Universal Epic Universe, the new theme park that recently opened in Central Florida, I met artist Haleigh Mooney who commented on my Fright Rags Special Agent Dale Cooper shirt released on Twin Peaks Day 2025. She was hired by Universal to create complimentary postcard sketches for guests visiting the park. As it turns out, she is a fellow Twin Peaks fan who created character sketches during a “Twin Peaks Drawing Challenge” in October to November 2020. Here’s a look at these stunning designs with links to purchase.

WHO IS HALEY MOONEY?

May 25, 2025

According to her bio, Haleigh Mooney is a Florida-based freelance illustrator and 2D/3D animator with her sights set on a position in the TV industry. She graduated from the University of Central Florida in 2018 with a BFA in Character Animation. Haleigh said she’s been actively drawing since about age 14.

Upon graduation, she began working on illustrations for the Lucky Love Series written by Casey Lane. “Lucky Love & His Moms andLucky Love Starts School,” were both published in 2020 and follow a little dog named Lucky Love who was adopted by two moms. Her online portfolio has plenty of examples of other illustration and animation projects.

Haleigh is also the bassist in the Orlando Paranormal shoegaze band Saucers Over Washington whose first album, “American Cosmic,” is now available for streaming on Bandcamp. The band’s name was inspired by the famous UFO sightings that occurred in skies over Washington D.C. in July 1952.

Steven sketched into an Epic Universe postcard

I chose to be sketched in front of Luna, goddess of the Moon, statue found near the entrance to Epic Universe. With my Canon EOS R5 camera in tow, I turned my back toward Haleigh for her to capture my outline. The final result had me leaping over the moon! The personalized postcard was such a unique keepsake from the theme park, and I’m convinced David Lynch’s creative spirit brought us together for that moment.

After I gave her my Twin Peaks Blog business card, she mentioned Twin Peaks characters sketches she completed a few years ago. Haleigh said Michael Horse commented on her Deputy Hawk image. When I got home, I marveled at her talents – the sketches are than damn good. Her use of color and lighting combined with classic expressions, icons and dialogue from the show make them some of the best Twin Peaks artwork I’ve seen in years.

Here is a closer look at all of the character sketches from “Logtober” 2020.

  1. She does lovely work! I like the fun cartoony style and bright color. I did a drawing challenge (Inktober) a few years ago where I attempted to match up the prompts each day, with David Lynch projects and it was so much fun.

    1. I’ve seen your work, Gilbert. It is amazing! 😀 <3

  2. Wow! Her art is so amazing. I’m not even a Donna Hayward fan but the one she did of that character is filled with so much emotion. Wow. Beautiful work. Thanks for pointing her work out for us to enjoy! 😀 <3
