I Bellissimi Superstar Trading Card of James Marshall

James Marshall trading card

I’ve been collecting Twin Peaks items for years now. One of the more unique trading cards in my collection is from an Italian card set released in 1993. The 210 card collection is part of I Bellissimi Superstar set which includes images of actors, musicians, models and celebrities. Interestingly, James Marshall who played James Hurley in David Lynch and Mark Frost’s wonderful and strange show is featured on card number 101.

I BELLISSIMI SUPERSTAR TRADING CARDS

Italian trading card pack

From what I can gather, the I Bellissimi Superstar trading card set was released at some point in 1993 by Masters Cards for the Italian market. Each pack contained 12 out of 210 randomly selected cards. The image above is the packaging for this collection – look at that early 1990s design!

Translation of trading card pack

As I don’t speak Italian, I ran the text through Google Translate to find out there were 210 cards that could be displayed in a binder that was sold separately. Search “I Bellissimi Superstar” on on-line auction sites and you’ll see the random collection of celebrities in this set.

The image comes from Twin Peaks episode 1.003 when James Hurley watches Laura Palmer’s funeral from by a Y-shaped tree.

The specific image used on the card is a publicity photo from this episode. There were multiple shots of James by the tree but they selected this one which is slightly off-color compared to the episode.
