I’ve lost count of how many doughnuts I’ve consumed throughout my more than 30 year fascination with Twin Peaks. That’s one reason why I couldn’t wait for the Policeman’s Dream gathering on Saturday, February 24 during the Real Twin Peaks 2024 event. It was the perfect way to celebrate Twin Peaks Day in Snoqualmie Valley, Washington.
A POLICEMAN’S DREAM
The “A Policeman’s Dream” event was held at Snoqualmie Eagles in downtown Snoqualmie from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon. This event was included with the purchase of a VIP ticket. For others, tickets were sold separately at the door for $10.
The name comes from Agent Cooper’s dialogue toward the end of the Twin Peaks pilot when he finds a conference room table full of doughnuts at the Twin Peaks Sheriff’s Department.
DOUGHNUTS AT SNOQUALMIE VALLEY EAGLES
Attendees to Snoqualmie Valley Eagles were greeted again with the “Let’s Rock” sign (which looks even cooler at night).
Upon entering the location, guests were checked in at a small table.
Two red-skirted tables full of doughnuts were placed on the dance floor.
So many doughnuts!
On one side of the table, some doughnuts were splattered with “blood” that resembles the scene where Waldo the Myna bird was shot (they even included feathers).
This is how heaven appears to me.
It didn’t take long for these doughnuts to disappear.
AROUND THE ROOM
While fans enjoyed plenty of doughnuts and coffee, DJ Dwaine Wheeler played more Twin Peaks music. Less than twelve hours earlier, Dwaine played music for the incredibly fun Pink Room Dance Party.
People could take photos with various Twin Peaks standees which were from Paramount’s Twin Peaks online shop. There was one exception – the Selena Swift cutout which was created by replica prop master Jason Mattson. This standee was wearing the MX Twin Peaks 2024 sash that would be presented later on Saturday night during the MX Twin Peaks costume contest.
A similar standee was found in episode 1.006 at Horne’s Department Store. I love that she is holding an “Invitation to Love” box.
I was happy to run into Courtenay Stallings, author and editor extraordinaire. I’m glad she would be doing a book reading of her exceptional “Laura’s Ghost: Women Speak About Twin Peaks” on Sunday, February 25 at North Bend Trading Co.
After enjoying a doughnut, I turned around and Travis Black was there! It was so good to be in his presence again.
I first met Travis during the 1996 Twin Peaks Fan Fest. We were both so young then. Travis was the bus tour guide that year and made a few unscheduled stops to places like the Red Diamond City Motel (also known as the Mt. Si Motel) and the former Fat Trout Trailer Park from Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me.
I love that Travis captured this photo of me taking photos at the Mt. Si Motel, long before documenting film locations on Twin Peaks Blog was a thing.
The last time I saw Travis in person was during his visit to Orlando, Florida in April 2018. I had spent the better part of the day tracking down Twin Peaks albums on Record Store Day. Our meeting was the perfect ending to a Twin Peaks-themed day. Today he offers Tarot readings, personalized astrology readings and bodywork at BathHouseMystic.com.
DEPARTURE FOR THE WELCOME TO TWIN PEAKS SIGN SPOT
As the 11:00 hour approached, the incomparable Mary Hütter took to the stage to explain how folks were traveling to the “Welcome to Twin Peaks” sign spot.
She also explained that a live stream would be shown of the mayoral proclamation for those who didn’t want to go to Reinig Road.
As I left Eagles, I spotted this “Thank you” sign. It’s such a deep cut that first appeared at the Double R Diner in episode 1.002.
The best look at the sign is found in the Twin Peaks Access Guide to the Town. It’s a little touch like this that made my experience at the Real Twin Peaks even more special.
