Ultimate Twin Peaks Gift Guide for 2019

Special Agent Dale Cooper once said, “I’m going to let you in on a little secret: Every day, once a day, give yourself a present.”

Now that the season of giving has once again descended from pure air, here is my ultimate Twin Peaks gift guide containing a roundup of damn fine ideas for the Twin Peaks fan in your life (even if that fan is you).

**NOTE**
This guide was first published on November 30, 2019. Several items may no longer be available. Some links were updated on October 12, 2024 to current offerings and websites.

OFFICIAL SHOWTIME STORE

The first stop for official Twin Peaks licensed products is the Showtime Store. Launched in late 2016 with Season 3 returning to the small screen after a 25-year hiatus, this official store include shirts, mugs, blankets, and more, featuring favorites from the Double R Diner, the Red Room, and the reasonably priced Great Northern Hotel.

I selected a handful of items that caught my eye including the Twin Peaks replica signet ring by Rocklove Jewelry, Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me ugly sweater or the Twin Peaks Sheriff Department beanie.

The t-shirt with the postcard image is actually the postcard from the Double R Diner menu. Fun fact – the image is from the Asulkan Valley, Glacier National Park in British Columbia, Canada.

BLUE ROSE MAGAZINE

Twin Peaks Gift Guide - Blue Rose Magazine
BlueRoseMag.com

In the 1990s, I loved reading Craig Miller and John Thorne’s “Wrapped in Plastic” magazine. Each issue was filled with wonderful and strange analysis from my favorite television series. Nearly 25 Years later, Scott Ryan and a talented team of authors have captured that same magic in each issue of “The Blue Rose Magazine.” They have published 12 issues so far and a 36-page, extended edition covering the 30th anniversary of the Twin Peaks Pilot Episode is planned for April 2020. Place orders by visiting BlueRoseMag.com.

2019/20 Package with Issues 9-13 – $60

PRE-ORDER NEW TWIN PEAKS BOOKS

Twin Peaks Gift Guide - Pre-order Twin Peaks Books

You can pre-order three new Twin Peaks books today from either BlueRoseMag.com or FayettevilleMafiaPress.com.

Twin Peaks UnwrappedTwin Peaks Unwrapped, has over 200 episodes, and now they have a book. Hosts Ben Durant and Bryon Kozaczka have interviewed just about every actor on the show, writer, fan and crazy theorist over the 200 episodes. The book compiles all they have unwrapped about David Lynch & Mark Frost’s Twin Peaks over the past few years. This book will be released on April 8, 2020, the 30th Anniversary of the first broadcast of the Twin Peaks Pilot Episode.

Retail – $25

Conversations with Mark Frost – This book, comprising a series of interviews by David Bushman with Mark Frost over the course of a single year, finally and fully acknowledges the extent of Frost’s contributions to Twin Peaks, and to American television in general, as a writer/producer on Hill Street Blues and other shows, and as a mentor to numerous other writers. This book will be released on March 12, 2020.

Retail – $30

Laura’s Ghost: Women Speak About Twin Peaks – In Laura’s Ghost: Women Speak About Twin Peaks, Courtney Stallings examines Laura Palmer’s legacy on the 30th anniversary of Twin Peaks. Palmer’s character was one of the few frank and horrific representations of sexual abuse victims which did not diminish the strength and complexity of the victim. This book is a reckoning in which women from the show and community speak about grief, mischief, humor, sexuality, strength, weakness, wickedness, and survival. This book will be released on August 12, 2020.

MUSIC FROM DEAN HURLEY

Twin Peaks Gift Guide - Dean Hurley on Bandcamp.com
Bandcamp.com

One of my favorite albums this year is Dean Hurley’s “Anthology Resource Vol. II – Philosophy of Beyond” (you can read my Love Letter to this album here). Dean, who operated and managed Lynch’s Asymmetrical Studio from 2005-2018, created a dreamy sonic landscape with this new release that is a wonderful follow up to Anthology Resource Vol. 1.

Both albums are currently available on Dean’s Bandcamp page.

Here’s an introduction to “Philosophy of Beyond,” which captures the essence of this out-of-body auditory experience.

Retail – $5 – $32 depending on format

ARTWORK BY JOSH HOWARD

Artwork by Josh Howard
Artwork by Josh Howard

Josh Howard has been writing and drawing comics professionally since 2003, and his artwork based on Twin Peaks Season 3 is stunning! I can’t pick a favorite piece (though I’m partial to the Gordon Cole and Albert piece or the Laura/Carrie print or the Phillip Jeffries … see, it’s not easy). I now understand why Ben and Bryon had him create the cover artwork for their “Twin Peaks Unwrapped ” book I mentioned above.

Order his artwork directly online at The Official Store of Josh Howard.
