In Episode 1.002 of Twin Peaks, Ben and Jerry Horne take a trip to One-Eyed Jacks. The casino and brothel is located in Canada just over the boarder from Washington state. In reality, they arrive at a boat dock located in Agoura Hills, California.
WHERE IS THE ARRIVING AT ONE-EYED JACKS SCENE LOCATED?
Their travel and arrival scene in Episode 1.002 is split into two parts. The entire scene was shot at Lake Mailbou. Homes around the lake are part of the Malibou Lake Mountain Club, a private lake and residential community of custom houses nestled in the Santa Monica Mountains between the Conejo Valley and beaches of Mailbu.
The image above shows the locations of where several scenes were shot. The boat dock is part of a private residence on the lake (so please no trespassing!). The approximate coordinates for these scenes are 34°06’20.2″N 118°45’52.4″W.
BEN AND JERRY HORNE JUMP IN THE BOAT
I believe the Horne brothers’ boat trip was shot on the opposite side of the bridge on Crags Drive. After the photo was lightened, I noticed there were no homes or boat docks along the shore. Most likely there was a second boat tracking alongside the Hornes’ boat to get this brief transition shot.
ONE-EYED JACKS SIGN
The second part of the trek to One-Eyed Jacks picks up with a girl standing in a fur coat next to a neon sign. This establishing shot of the neon sign is used multiple times throughout Seasons 1 and 2.
When researching this article, I stumbled across images taken in March 2015 from the private home used for some of the scene in One-Eyed Jacks. I damn near fell out of my seat when I realized what they were!
The above image shows the giant tree in the backyard where the neon sign for One-Eyed Jacks was placed.
BEN AND JERRY ARRIVING AT THE DOCK
Ben and Jerry arrive are greeted by a “sailor” from One-Eyed Jacks as they dock.
The red circle shows the location of the boat dock. It can be seen from the bridge on Crags Drive, which is where Deputy Hawk’s surveillance van was parked. They most likely shot the image of the van from the boat dock.
Here are two location images of the dock taken in March 2015. Beyond the dock is Lake Malibou where additional scenes, such as Maddy and James’ conversation on the dock or Cooper and Annie’s boat ride, were shot.
INTWINPEAKS.COM
A hat tip once again to the former InTwinPeaks.com website that first posted an image of the boat dock from the late 2000s. I referenced this image when searching for the location on Google Maps.
