Twin Peaks Blog Launches – A Fascination Both Wonderful and Strange

This year marks the 25th anniversary of when I first discovered David Lynch and Mark Frost’s “Twin Peaks.”  The Twin Peaks Blog is my attempt to document my continued experience with a show that has consumed my life for 25 years. My mother still jokes this is “just a phase that will pass,” and yet I’m starting a blog in 2018.

WHEN DID MY JOURNEY TO TWIN PEAKS BEGIN?

While a high school senior living in Columbus, Ohio, I first made the journey to Twin Peaks via my local library in fall 1993.

Wild At Heart Badalamenti

I borrowed the soundtrack to David Lynch’s “Wild At Heart” on vinyl from the library in late summer that year. Unsure what to expect, I fell in love with Angelo Badalamenti’s otherworldly tones and quickly sought out other music by him. Enter Twin Peaks.

Twin Peaks Soundtrack

The vinyl album I borrowed was magnificent – an iconic image of an empty road at the foot of snow capped mountains inviting me into a mystery. The back of the album contained images of  characters from a series I had never seen (I missed the original broadcast on ABC in 1990/91). Songs like “Laura Palmer’s Theme,” “Into the Night,” or the “Love Theme To Twin Peaks” were on constant rotation.

It wasn’t until October 1993 that I discovered the Pilot episode and the first season on VHS at my library in Grove City, Ohio. I played hooky one day just to watch it. The rest is history.

Launched in February 2018, TWIN PEAKS BLOG  is my attempt to document my continued experience with a show that has consumed my life for more than 30 years.

This site is a living, breathing archive of a wonderful and strange show that I love dearly. A few friends have joined me in the quest to preserve the show and feature film’s history. As Bookhouse Boys, we hope you enjoy our discoveries as much as we enjoy finding them.

I obsess over the details, regularly get lost in the woods, find the music too dreamy, and consume lots of coffee, doughnuts and cherry pie.  If you’re like me, then I hope this blog, “…fills your heart with wonder and the wisdom that you have known a singular joy.”

CONNECT WITH ME

I love connecting with fellow Twin Peaks fans. Please send a note if you have questions or suggestions, or if you simply want to say, “Hello-o-o-o!” You can also send email to TheTwinPeaksBlog@gmail.com or connect on social media.
