Teen Twin Peaks Graphic T-Shirt From GAP Canada

T-shirt with Twin Peaks graphic and GAP Canada logo

This year, several retails have released officially licensed Twin Peaks products including H&M and Japanese high-end fashion designer Jun Takahashi’s Undercover. Joining the mix, I recently stumbled upon a now sold out Twin Peaks graphic t-shirt for teens from GAP Canada. Why this shirt isn’t offered for adults is beyond me.

While searching for unique and rare Twin Peaks items on eBay, I found a long-sleeve, graphic t-shirt featuring an image of the woods and a Twin Peaks logo with two triangles.

Upon closer look, this item appears to be officially licensed (notice the copyright just below the graphic) created especially for GAP Canada.

Twin Peaks Logo

The triangle logo reminds me of my favorite Twin Peaks logo from the 1990s. ABC Television used a similar version shown above in advertising and during commercials.

I would have loved to purchase it except the t-shirt was made for teens.

I quickly searched the GAP Canada website and found the landing page for the “Teen | Twin Peaks Graphic T-shirt” offered in a Plum pudding color. The page contained two gray rectangles in place of the shirt and model images above. No size options were available as it appeared I was too late – the shirt was discounted from CA$34.95 to CA$27.00.

Despite the shirt being sold out, I figured the product images were just hidden on the website. Following a quick inspection, I found both the graphic t-shirt and the model image and recreated the webpage.

At first, I wondered how many teens were watching Twin Peaks in Canada? I was 18 when I started watching the show but I’ve met others who watch the series at a much younger age. Then I realized this shirt was part of a larger graphic t-shirt collection with pop culture images from the 1980s and 1990s – things that the parents of these teens would immediately recognize. And since the parents were probably purchasing the clothing for their children, this shirt would be a easy way to dress up a child in their favorite things (or at least that is what I would do in my home).

The clothing label indicates the shirt was 60% cotton and 40% Polyester. It was an “Easy T” which included “Planet-friendly styles for this generation.” Based on the eBay find and a few other online listings, I believe this shirt was released in 2024 possibly for their fall and winter collection.

TREE GRAPHIC ON THE TWIN PEAKS T-SHIRT

The tree graphic on the teen shirt may look familiar as it’s the same stock phot used in the key artwork from Twin Peaks: The Return.

There were two main posters with superimposed images of Special Agent Dale Cooper and Laura Palmer over a forest. There were different sized graphics used on posters, website banners, merchandise and much more. It’s another story for another time.

Photographer Christoper Kimmel took the original image titled “Landscape of forest in fog.” It is currently found on Getty Images with the reference number 538589589.

Fingers crossed that GAP will release an adult version of this shirt as it would be an instant purchase for me.
