In Twin Peaks – Part 11, Red interrupts a Briggs’ family dinner at the Double R Diner. The two love birds share a kiss before Shelly returns to the conversation beaming. The location for this scene was shot just outside Twede’s Cafe in North Bend, Washington. Let’s take a closer look at how the Real Twin Peaks of North Bend, Washington creeps into the fictional world built by Mark Frost and David Lynch.
WHERE DO RED AND SHELLY KISS IN TWIN PEAKS?
The love birds run next door to 129 West North Bend Way, Suite A, which is home to Lucia’s European Tailoring and Alterations. The shop is owned by Chad and Lucia Iovanovici, who met at age 16 while working at a tailoring shop in Romania. Two years later, they were married and eventually made their way to Washington state in the early 1990s.
In 1996, they bought a house in North Bend. After working at Nordstrom store in Bellevue for about 10 years, they branched out by setting up their own shop in 2001 on Main Street in North Bend. In 2007, they purchased the building seen in Part 11 which once housed Iron Aged Gifts and North Bend Guitars. The Snoqualmie Valley Record has a great interview with the Iovanovici from October 2, 2008.
You can see the front window of the tailor shop along with a phone number.
This brief scene with Red and Shelly was captured on September 16, 2015.
It was raining when I visited the spot in January 2020. You can see, however, the similar window for the shop complete with neon signs.
Here is a daytime look at the same spot from August 26, 2024.
Here’s another look at the spot following Red and Shelly’s kiss.
After Shelly departs, Red pauses for a moment before running down the street.
The wooden fence and neon Coors Light beer sign are part of the Twin Peaks Pub which opened in 2018.
