JUNE 12 – STEVEN RHODES

The fourth print in Steven’s series reminds me of a vintage travel sign for the small town of Twin Peaks. The image includes the hotel’s sign and a look at it perched above White Tail Falls (also known as Snoqualmie Falls).

According to the “Twin Peaks Access Guide to the Town,” the Great Northern Hotel is located on Great Northern Highway above White Tail Falls.

In reality, The Salish Lodge & Spa, located at 6501 Railroad Ave in Snoqualmie, Washington, sits above Snoqualmie Falls. The hotel exteriors were captured at this location, while the interiors were shot at either Kiana Lodge (Pilot Episode) or on a set in southern California.

This Setting the Stage article provides a really great look at all of the hotel’s exterior scenes.

Built in 1916, the hotel began as an eight-room inn – The Snoqualmie Falls Lodge. The building was completely remodeled and reopened as The Salish Lodge in 1988. Today, it is owned by the Snoqualmie Tribe who purchased the property from the Muckleshoot Indian Tribe in November 2019.

My wife and I stayed at The Salish Lodge for our one-year wedding anniversary in October 2019. We both loved the level of service, stunning accommodations and excellent dining. The hotel is also dog friendly, so our small Mexican Chihuahua loved joining us on our adventure. It’s THE place we can’t wait to visit again as soon as this strange time is over.

The Great Northern Hotel sign only appears in four episodes – the pilot, 1003, 2005, and 2018.

THE PRODUCTS

Similar to previous releases, Steven’s artwork is available as prints – individual, canvas, framed and metal. An acrylic box was added for this release, which would make for a perfect spot to place keys sporting a Great Northern Hotel keychain.
