Twin Peaks Location – Mr. C Visits Naido’s Spot

In Twin Peaks Part 14 on Showtime, the Twin Peaks Sheriff’s Department discovers Naido while visiting a spot 253 yards due east of Jack Rabbit’s Palace. This magical portal is seen again in Part 17 when Mr. C visits this location. I covered the film location in Olallie State Park rather extensively in this article. This time, I return to the location with a handful of different shots not seen in Part 14.

WHERE IS THE LOCATION WHERE MR. C VISIT’S NAIDO’S SPOT IN TWIN PEAKS?

Located down the highway from North Bend, Washington, Olallie State Park is wonderful spot to be immersed in the beauty of the Pacific Northwest. Make sure you have an affordable Discover Pass, which allows you to visit this spot and other Washington State Parks. The park’s address is at 51350 S.E. Homestead Valley Road. Once parked in the lot by Weeks Falls Trail, set a course for the following coordinates: 47°26’07.1″N 121°39’07.6″W.

The scene begins with Mr. C parking his truck in the same spot the Sheriff’s Department did in Part 14. You can read about this location near Weeks Falls trail in this article.

The scene cuts to two different shots of the woods. At first glance, these seem like different locations that are meant to serve as a transition through the woods to Naido’s spot.

In reality, they are two shot of the same location! I combined the images together to get a panoramic image. The location is just off of Weeks Falls trail. The Snoqualmie River is down over the hill beyond. I thought I took reference images during my visit in September 2019 but I’m unable to produce a match.

Luckily, fellow Bookhouse Boy Mr. Gray Hill from Wales (!!) was *literally* visiting Olallie State Park while I was finishing this article. He offered to take any updated photos I needed. I sent him the collage image above and he delivered these shots later in the afternoon. This. Is. Amazing!

This is one thing that has continually impressed me with the Twin Peaks community – the friendly and helpful spirit of fellow fans. I’ve seen this since I first ran a Twin Peaks website (The Great Northern Hotel) from 1996-2001. I’ve never met Mr. Hill but he went out of his way to provide these images. If this fan community isn’t the best, then I don’t know what is.

Back to the episode…

The scene cuts to smoke rising behind a tree at what we now know as Naido’s spot.

Mr. C is then seen emerging from behind a giant root ball.

This same root ball is found in Olallie State Park.

Mr. C would be approaching from the left side of Naido’s spot, and the image above from Part 14 is what he would see.

Mr. C walks slowly toward the gold-filled portal on the ground, checking his GPS coordinates to ensure he is in the correct location.

Here’s the same location from mid-September (minus the portal).

A similar shot of the gold-filled portal from Part 14 is seen again in Part 17.

I just love this behind-the-scenes shot of the gold liquid being poured into the Lynch-created circle.

Every time I see this portal, I’m reminded of this quote from the 2018 Festival of Disruption in Brooklyn, New York.

The camera then pans up the white spray painted tree that was placed next to the portal. I combined the images into a singular photo above. You can tell the tree is painted in the aforementioned behind-the-scenes shot.

Mr. C then inches closer to the portal.

When he reappears, we see the Fireman’s house from Part 8. Mr. C is locked in a cage while a giant floating head of Major Briggs appears opposite. This scene was shot in the former Tower Theatre at 802 S. Broadway in downtown Los Angeles (read about this film location here).

Of course, I couldn’t resist turning the image into the more proper black and white version.
