In Twin Peaks Part 3 on Showtime, the American Girl (played by Phoebe Augustine, who also played Ronette Pulaski) is seen checking her wristwatch. I am fascinated by timepieces (I’m currently sporting a Hamilton watch that is a replica of one worn by Matthew McConaughey’s character Cooper in Christopher Nolan’s Insterstellar). So I was determined to identify this watch. As it turns out, the task was much easier than anticipated.
AMERICAN GIRL CHECKS HER WATCH
After returning from the roof of a metal cube floating into space, Special Agent Dale Cooper sees a woman sitting on a couch in front of a fireplace.
She looks at her digital wristwatch and sees the time changes from 2:52 to 2:53, thus opening a portal for Cooper to leave the purple-hued world.
IDENTIFYING AMERICAN GIRL’S WATCH PROP
To identify this prop, I started with a Google Image search using the first image in this story. The results identified the image as part of this episode but not the actual watch. So I cut out and rotated the watch in Photoshop then searched again.
This time, the results identified the watch as an “analog watch.” I changed the search terms to “digital watch women” and began scrolling down. I stopped when I saw the pink and silver timepiece seen above. It appeared to match.
Using the description from the Google Image search (“Armitron Sport Women’s 45/7012 Digital Chronograph Watch”), I easily found a match on Amazon.com. The watch is offered in several colors, but the silver colored one is the best match.
It appears the crew removed the words “Armitron” and “WR330FT” (which means “water resistant up to 330 feet”) before getting a close up of it.
Part 3 is the only “time” (ha!) this prop is seen throughout Twin Peaks Season 3. For $19-$25, it’s a deal!
