Twin Peaks Location – FBI Jet Flying from Parts 7 and 9

In Twin Peaks Parts 7 and 9, aerial footage of a Gulfstream G450 jet in flight is shown. This jet is carrying FBI Agents Gordon Cole, Albert Rosenfield and Tammy Preston along with Diane Evans. As it turns out, this footage is actually part of a promotional video originally from Gulfstream Aerospace.

WHERE IS THE FOOTAGE OF THE FBI JET FLYING FROM PARTS 7 AND 9 FROM?

The G450 was designed and built by Gulfstream Aerospace, a General Dynamics company that was located in Savannah, Georgia from 1985-2018. First approved by the FAA on August 12, 2004, there were over 900 units produced with the last one delivered on January 19, 2018.

The official Gulfstream website no longer offers information about this aircraft, but I located the page above via the Wayback Machine on Archive.org.

Part 7

The airplane is seen flying twice – first in Part 7 and again in Part 9. The first appearance shows the plane flying by Mt. Shasta in California.

Shortly after Part 7 first aired on June 18, 2017, the awesome WelcomeToTwinPeaks.com website posted an article calling for cryptologists to decode the flickering windows seen in the episode.  I’m still unsure what the code says but I dream of solving it like Dale Cooper dreams of solving the Lindberg kidnapping case.

As mentioned, this footage is from a promotional video from Gulfstream Aerospace. After searching for more than an hour on YouTube, I found a copy of it below:

This isn’t the first time that stock or promotional footage was used in Twin Peaks Season 3. One of the first locations I found that used stock footage was the exterior of Diane Evans’ apartment. Other locations that use such footage are aerial shots of New York City, the Pentagon and even Buenos Aires.

The promotional video footage is used again in Part 9, only this time the footage is reversed (look at the registration number on the engine).

Here is a reversed shot of the plane from the episode which is as it appears in the Gulfstream video.
